i bought him a gift-he said he only wanted me as his gift..i told him that i am accustomed to sharing holidays with my bf and if we cannot be together it is nice to be thought of. I told him that I spent alot of time and thought on his gift from the heart. and i had hoped the same from him. I told him i guess i expected too much.

he responded by saying the following:

"Thanks for the spanking..I'll give you the space you need :-("

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???

He told you he didn't want a gift from you and you went ahead and got him one because you wanted too; then you basically told him he was wrong not to get you one after you got him one-so he is taking a break from you until he cools down. One major difference in men and women is that a woman will say she doesn't care or want something when she really does but if a guy tells you he wants nothing but you he actually means it. You didn't listen to him and then got on him for not getting you something so e is not pleased with you right now. Maybe he will cool off and maybe it s final-listen to what people say and mean and if you ignore it because you want too or you are used to doing something else at least don't lecture them about you being right and the other person wrong.

Sounds like you are showing more feelings than he's interested in right now. Gifts are also not the only way to show how much you care, so it was pretty crappy of you to say you expected too much. That's just passive aggressive and manipulative. Who wants to deal with that?

It means he got the idea that you're upset and now he's backing off. It's really the space HE needs. Don't lay out ultimatum-style gauntlets like that in the future.

He feels like you just beat up on him and doesn't plan on coming around you anytime soon.

It isn't funny at all.

He took your remarks as criticism and is now backing off. What good is a long distance boyfriend, anyway? There's somebody for you right where you are. Be patient and you'll find him.

if he told you all he wanted was you as his gift and you bought him something, why get upset when he didnt get you something when he openly told you he wasnt!? You took it out of hand and now hes pissed becuase of what you said to him.
