It's possible. I think the phenomenon is always going to be present as long as somebody has enough creativity and inquisitiveness to ask "why are we here," but I don't think it will always be this destructive.
One day, Christians will get tired of waiting for their savior and justifying their clearly monstrous beliefs. Muslims will wise-up. Catholics will realize that doctrine is fallible. Etc., etc., etc...
At least, we can always hope.

great factor and one that is misunderstand the two via the cults and via Christians. I pray to God, provide him my life, and bam, i'm saved! however the Bible teaches a distinctive tale. people who do no longer coach the fruit of replace and don't persist of their walk with God weren't in any respect relatively believers. And the place God isn't in all likelihood at artwork, no fruit will coach. So with the aid of fact God is at artwork in us, my heart is replaced and due to God's love, I in turn love others and coach the fruit of regeneration. I intently worded that so God gets the credit, my works are no longer the factor. Works are the fruit of regeneration, no longer the reason. while they strengthen into the reason, I win the prize of conceitedness or melancholy. boastful that i'm extra sensible than others (inspect me and what stable options i'm making) or melancholy that I merely look to get it good. Humility and faith, the style the place our strikes certainly align with our deep and trustworthy theory is the mark of a real Christian.

The main thing would be not to scare them into believing and not to lie about it either. I remember the "children's bible" I had as a child. All the smiling faces of the believers and all the horrified faces of those that didn't. They were usually drowning, being consumed by fire or being slaughtered. I remember one picture of Absolom with his hair caught in a tree about to be skewered by Joab. And later the images in various books and articles about non-believers being slaughtered during the tribulation. Add the infamous Jack Chick tracts and you don't really get that whole "god is love" thing. I think that a large reason why people chose some flavor of christian religion is because they are indoctrinated from an early age. I know we have some answers that people waited until they were older, but they can't say they weren't surrounded by it. If that same person is raised in the middle east, when they reach the stated age I don't think they will turn to a christian religion. Your "choice" in belief systems does say a lot about the kind of indoctrination you received as a child.

the only place your logic is mislead is when you say "an otherwise educated society" America is full of ignorant evangelists. And because religious nuts are breeding so rapidly as are stupid people the amount of intelligent people decreases. This being said religion since the time america started has been on an upward hill. Very few intelligent and educated people today believe organized religion to be a good thing. But what is one to do when this population is decreasing and the ignorant one increasing. You wait until they argue the other religion and destroy one another it happens all the time throughout history.

I think there will always be religion because so many people NEED something to believe in. Many people who believe in God were not raised in religious households. There are lots that factor in to belief. Some have faced terrible crisis' and turn to religion to help them through it. Others are religious and lose their faith when something awful happens to them. I think kids believe what their parents steer them towards, but ultimately make a choice on their own as an adult.

Read Romans 1:18-32 in the Holy Bible, I suggest a New Living translation written in plain modern English. There it tells you the knowledge of God is known to you instinctively. For God put this knowledge in your heart before you are born. It is the wicked people who push the truth about God away from themselves, whose minds become dark and confused. They claim to be wise, but are utter fools instead. Not my words, God's words.

Childhood should be physically and emotionally safe. Any teaching that inspires fear is a form of abuse. Why not help your child to think, learn and grow so they can walk their own journey of spiritual discovery?

I came to faith in Jesus Christ while I was in college, so your assumption is wrong. By the way, I have two young children and both of them know the truth about Jesus Christ and the salvation that be provides by grace through faith.
Praise the Lord.

It would be a good start.
However, I have known people who become "bathed in the love of the holy spirit" later on, so it is still possible for a relapse.
