I'm on a F.I.R.S.T. FRC robotics team... we were given hints to what our game is gonna be... here's the first hint:

42.349905
-71.076072
342.242026

What do you think these numbers stand for? We're thinking it migh have something to do with the IR codes... What do you think?

The coordinates could be the site of the John Singleton Copley statue in Copley square and the compass heading the direction in which the statue is facing.

As an MS Excel date and time, 342.242026 is Dec. 7 1900 5:48:31 AM.

Other features of Copley Square:
Trinity Church
The plaza in front of the church
The fountain
Tortoise and Hare sculpture
Boston Marathon Centennial Monument

Following fazoon's suggestion, my estimate from Google Earth is that the location is about two thirds of the way between the center of the plazza in front of the church and the Tortoise and Hare sculpture. From that location, the direction takes you between the tortoise and the hare towards the fountain. This picture was taken from the approximate location looking approximately in the direction indicated. http://www.schon.com/public/tortoise-hare.php

Following on from Chas EE's answer, the first two numbers,
if they are latitude and longitude, centre on something in
front of Trinity Church. Not being a Bostonian, I can't tell
what it is from Google Earth, so maybe it's the statue that
is referred to.
If the third number is an azimuth from this point (azimuth
is defined as an easterly direction from north), then that
seems to point directly to an obelisk on the other side of
the nearby pond.
It probably points to a lot of other things as well, but from
where I am, I'm virtually clueless on those.

It appears to be an open plaza near the John Hancock Hotel in Boston. An azimuth of 342 would send you approximately parallel with Dartmouth Street.
