I'm going on a ski trip in a few weeks.
I'm not sure what to do.
Snowboarding or skiing.
I've snowboarded before for like 2 days.
I sucked. I fell down all the time, couldn't balance, my average time without falling was like 5 seconds, and I got really really sore.
I don't want that to happen on the ski trip.
I've never tried skiing. And I need something to keep my balance.
But my mom said that skiing won't be good for me because I have really long legs and that i'll break them if I ski.
And I have a fear that i'll go too fast and break something on my body.
Man... I wish I didn't sign up for this. But its too late. >.<
Should I just stick with snowboarding? Even though I'll spend most of the time on my butt? And would it be fun if a lot of other people in my group are skiing? (I'm not really sure the percentage of the people skiing.)

Start conditioning now, jump rope, swim, treadmills, Exercycle all can help. Broken bones from skiing is now a very rare occurrence, unlike snowboarding, where the common injury is a broken wrist or arm. The ski bindings now release in a good range for your weight and ability.
Take lessons, whether ski or snowboard, from a qualified instructor. Be sure that your boots fit tight, very tight around your foot and ankle, but not painful. If you rent equipment at a resort, get there early and demand attention from the staff if your boots are not a good fit, you cant slide on the hill.
A ski boot is sized for men's 10 is a 28 (2+8= 10) a man's foot with a size 11 wears a ski boot one size smaller, ie a 28.
A woman must adjust for her size also. A woman's foot size 10 should be 2 sizes smaller, maybe a 26.
Which should you do? Try both with lessons, you must decide which is more fun. This is a social sport much more than a snow sport. Have fun, be careful, some speed is necessary to do either too much speed can be dangerous. A professional instructor will teach you to control it correctly. Enjoy.

Ski. Its all out better, and if you are with other skiers they cant spend time on their butts like snowboarders. You won't be able to get speed as a beginner. You need to be good at it to go fast. It's safe

Try skiing. You will have a lot more fun and spend most your time on your feet. Skiing is much easier for the begginer to pick up. Just make sure that your bindings are set to the proper release tension for you. you wont break any bones ot get hurt. start slow on the smaller hills until you get more comfortable.
