Judging the way Jesus meant it (Mat. 7:1) is more than just having an opinion. Using good judgment in everyday life is a given.

But when we turn our judgments into opinions about the salvation of other people, that's when everyday good judgment turns bad.

Nowhere in the Bible does it say we should judge others as far as who's going to heaven and who isn't. Since nobody knows another person's soul except God Himself, going around speculating on who is and isn't going to hell is arrogant. It's the equivalent of malicious gossip.

Judging who is worth hanging out with at the mall is vastly different from thinking it's your place to pronounce judgment on the salvation of other people.

You are misunderstanding what it means. It means it is wrong of you to judge others by saying something like - I don't like the way she dose that, she shouldn't be aloud to if she can't be better. Or to shun people because of their creed or handicap, then consider one self better.
The Bible also says "Not to listen to rumors and that it is worse to start them". If a person hears a rumor and judges a person from that lie they are being twice as bad.

In this world of gross darkness we shine as bright lights in the midst of perversions , hostility , ignorance , cults , and false Christianity. I want to encourage you, dear saints, to hold on to what God has gave you , keeping the faith , exercising the gifts the Holy Spirit has freely gave. We are NOT weaklings ! We are STRONG in the Lord, and in the POWER of His might !!! We are BOLD soldiers , anointed with Light, and Power, and AUTHORITY !!!

Hebrews 7 : 26 For such an high priest became US , who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and MADE HIGHER than the heavens.

I st Corinthians 6 : 1 - 3 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, to go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints ? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world ??????? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters ? Know ye not that we shall judge angels ?????? How much more things that pertain to this life ?!

I Peter 2 : 5, 9 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous Light.

John 7 : 24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

I Corinthians 2 : 15, 16 But he that is spiritual judge all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him ? But we have the mind of Christ.

Isaiah 54 : 17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness of of Me , saith the Lord .

One of the first things out of a heretic, agnostic, or atheists mouth is " you are judging ". Well , we have that authority. BUT ! Make sure the judgment is according to the WORD ! Because of what judgment you put out, you will also be judged with. All things we do, must be done in the Love of Jesus.

Of course, make good judgements for life. "The simple believeth every word, but the prudent man looketh well to his going." (Proverbs 14:15)

When we judge another's heart and actions like we are God, and especially when we fail to first judge our own hearts and lives, then we are doing what Christ warned against in Matthew 7:1 and Luke 6:37.

Of course. It's just the same as 'stereotyping'. We do it all the time and we have to, in order to organize the world into manageable chunks. It's when you are judgmental that your judgment becomes an issue. It's when your stereotyping becomes lacking in common sense that it is bad. People tend to overgeneralize the use of these terms. Generalization, by the way, falls into the same category as these two.

There are different kinds of judgement. To judge what is best for you or your family is different then judging others based on your beliefs and not looking at your own issues first.

Big difference between discernment and judgementalism!

The real scripture is don't judge unrighteously. You have a right to make judgements in life for the betterment of yourself and your family.

Scripture says judge righteous judgment. Don't undertake to take YHVH's place in judging.

there is TONGUE WAGGING JUDGEMENT.
And there is DON"T KILL MYSELF judgement.

And you are right--in a way---BUT!!! God puts certain people in your path, so you can talk to them about Him.
Or so they can see you are content--so they can ASK YOU WHAT MAKES YOU SO CONTENT? so you can tell them what makes you content.

LOOK in the mirror--first.
Ask God to use you, not to let you judge who should or should NOT be around you,......................
