I am not the one to ask. But I want to know. What would you all believe in if there is no God?

I think that it is easiest to use "Lion King" logic for this one. The circle of life. Survival of the fittest. Grand stage of silly characters. The idea of any of it being actually balanced..meaning fair. Or mutual meaning two equal sides. Is just simply not the case. The rhythm is constantly leaving many behind. Eradicating, improving, crushing, saving. Like a fine tuned machine with much prejudice. Should there be a God found to create it. It has done so and left us to it. I would believe then that moving forward with the assumption that the "balance" and the "mutual nature" could never be attained as it is always constantly changing without warning and without prejudice.
Peace to you.

the universe seeks equilibrium. things developed in a balanced way because if they weren't balanced, they couldn't exist. planets couldn't form without gravity, plants couldn't thrive without animals to keep them in check. there are examples thru-out nature of eco-systems failing because they were thrown out of the natural balance that sustains them. everything you see took billions of years to get to where it is today, and there was a lot of trial and error. things are so balanced and so mutual because that's the most efficient way for things to exist.

a better question is: if there's a creator, then why is there an asteroid belt?

Smkdwn, every time you get a flu shot you're acknowledging evolution. You know how they have to give a new version of the flu shot every flu season? It's because viruses EVOLVE very quickly.

As for the original question, the premise is false. Who says life is balanced and mutual? (And what does "mutual" even mean in that context?)

How is life balanced on Earth? Humans are like a parasite sucking away the entire system. We are part of that "created balance" too yet will are clearly not fitting in well.

We have on record fossils of creatures that have long since been extinct, not just bones from dinosaurs, were these species wiped out because life is so balanced?

Actually, life is not so balanced. There are certain predator-prey interactions that are strongly cyclical, you might say pulsating.

If it were so balanced, why is man asked to "subdue" the earth?

Because in the apparent randomness and chaos of the cosmos, there is a back ground intelligence that organizes with purpose and form that comes from a seemingly shared intelligence.
