Dental treatment is free for 19 yr old full time students IF they were under 19 when treatment commenced. I would recommend you fill the form in (they should have given you an HC1 form), so that you can be assessed. Certainly if the bursary is your only income you should find that you will be entitled to free treatment. Keep any receipts in the meantime as you may be able to claim a refund.
A full explanation of what you can claim and who is entitiled to free treatment can be found on the following site:

Good Luck

Sorry mate, but in the Uk once you reach the age of 19 you have to pay dental charges regardless of being in full time education and that applies to anybody over 18 and in full time ed!
You can fill in a HC1/HC2 form and send it off, if you are entitiled to free dental treatment you will be sent an exemption form, be warned there are 2 kinds of exemption forms, one will mean you are exempt from all nhs dental fee's, the other will only partially exempt you, which means you will have to pay a certain amount towards treatment.
In the mean time you will have to pay for any treatment you need im afraid!

NHS exemption is 'under 19 & in full time education' so if you are 19 you'll have to pay for treatment. the form HC1 can be sent off - your income is assessed & they'll tell you how much per course of treatment you have to pay- this form can be also used for eye tests etc

Hi - the answers above are incorrect. I'm a student and I get free dental treatment, free presciptions, money off glasses etc.
What you need to do is fill in the form you gave you - your parents will have to fill in a bit too, and send it off.
Then you will get a letter back telling you how much help you are entitled to - it will be either full help or partial help depending on how much your parents help you out, what you earn etc.
Hope that helps - I think the forms called a HC something.

You do have to pay towards Dental Treatment as well as any spectacles. Even Senior Citizens on pension Credit have to pay it.

if it is offered by your school, you should be. If you are a full time student and on your parents insurance you should be covered. Just show proof to insurance that you are a full time student :) best of luck
