Can someone explain that mantra?

If cleanliness is next to Godliness, are there consequences for not being clean?

Where are the boundaries drawn ~ I mean ~ what is considered "clean"?

Peace and many thanks for your opinions.

if cleanliness is next to glodliness, then gays should be saints. All that primping, and not wanting to get dirty and stuff.

It isn't in the Bible like that. From what I recall from reading the New Testament, however, the Pharisees did criticize John the Baptist and Jesus and their followers of being unclean. This tells me that cleanliness of body is kind of a red herring compared with Godliness. Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart.

I take that expression to mean that being clean is next in importance to being faithful.

It is an old world view. I agree with Mr Ed.

Maybe it is but I think the standards are not very high - you ever been to a jungle? God leaves his stuff everywhere.
