Learning natural stress and anxiety relief techniques and tips will pay of in the long run. But you must stick with it as natural alternatives to stress and anxiety relief do take longer to show results. However, natural methods may be better for you.

When to Call the Doctor

No one wants to pay a doctor's bill and then be told something he or she didn't already know. So here is how you can tell if you need to go to see a doctor about your stress:

Always call your physician if you are you having trouble eating and/or sleeping, if you feel overwhelmed, if your worries are running so constantly through your mind that you cant relax and if you think that if you stop worrying, it's somehow wrong. Evaluate these symptoms honestly. If you suffer from any or all of these symptoms, make an appointment with your health care professional today. Follow his or her advice closely and try to squeeze in these natural stress and anxiety relief exercises as well.

More Oxygen, Please

Pay attention to yourself or ask someone you trust to tell you how you breathe under stress. If you pant or hyperventilate, or breathe a lot faster than usual, this cuts the oxygen supply in your body, and your body puts out distress signals for you to get more oxygen that might contribute to your anxiety. When you feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath. Take many deep breaths for natural stress and anxiety relief. This minute or so of taking time out to breathe deeply will give your body a time-out and help calm panic. It will also lower your heart rate and blood pressure during stressful times.

Some people find it difficult to breathe deeply for natural stress and anxiety relief. This is normal. If you have this problem, keep a small dark glass bottle of essential oils nearby. Sniffing the essential oil will make your body instinctively take deeper breaths. Some recommended oils that encourage deep breathing are lavender, frankincense and tea tree. Bergamot works for some, but not for others. Scent is a very personal thing so take some time to test the aromas of several different essential oils sold in a health stores, fitness stores, or pharmacies. Some large chain supermarkets carry essential oils in their organic departments. They are made from natural plant and fruit extracts and oils, making them truly organic and natural solutions for stress and anxiety relief.

So if you are one of the millions of people who suffer from stress and anxiety, you may want to try natural alternatives to medicine. Most medicines have some type of side effects and long-term effects of psychotropic drugs are unknown. Natural stress and anxiety remedies have few if any side effects and can be just as effective.

Once you become aware of some of these factors that cause stress, you can immediately recognize your triggers and begin to think differently or avoid those triggers that create stress. For example, if an a co-worker's or friend's personality stresses you, avoid them if possible. If this is not practical, try to think about them differently. Focusing on their good qualities or expressing thankfulness and appreciation for them rather than allowing them to cause stress can help accomplish this.

To aid in identifying those stress triggers that prevent the individual from choosing between harmony or stress and anxiety relief is to keep a journal. When it is convenient write in a journal those times where you felt stress. This will not help you to identify those issues, but help you in tracking your successful progress.

hope i could help, relax and take a deep breath :)

It really depends upon the degree of anxiety that you are experiencing. If it is something that you can hide and is not severely impacting your daily life then I would say that there are many homeopathic methods that you can take up that will help you with this problem. First and foremost you need to find out what is the source of your anxiety because it is not until you understand it that you will be able to conquer it. You need to seek out a psychiatrist to help you get to the root of your problem. Once you know what it is you can do research on how to change how you are dealing with stress so that you can handle it more efficiently. If your stress is affecting your everyday life so that you cant function then you may need some medication to help calm you down so that the therapist will be able to help you get to the root of your problem while you are in a calmer state of mind. Please seek professional help because anxiety leads to depression because you will start to feel that you are so different from everyone else...believe me I know what I am talking about. Hope that this helps!

I agree with the person who said take deep breaths. When I get anxiety attacks I can't close my eyes cuz it makes me panic more - but the deep breaths and counting to 10 or thinking of something that relaxes me helps within a few minutes.

Exercise helps me a lot. I know you're not really calming down but it gets you focused on something else.

If your anxiety is serious enough, you may not be able to entirely deal with things on your own. Why don't you have yourself evaluated by a psychologist or psychiatrist? The doctor can then recommend a good treatment. Best wishes.
