Oh I agree. These young scoundrels today with their 'urs' and 'ya' and whatever else they type! Across all forums and social networking sites, people write in this appalling manner. I always use correct grammar and punctuation! Sure, people may call me sad but I think all these examples show that people just don't care anymore and yes, it does reflect poorly on our education system. Excellent point.

No... I think the inability of a College/University Freshman to parse a simple sentence in the English Language, an inability to count in one's head without electronic assistance, and an inability to locate certain grad-school geography marks on a map bodes ill for the US Educational System. The person that came-up with the theory of "Peer Group Passing" should be beaten withing an inch of their life, flayed with a dull spoon, rolled in salt, washed with hydrogen peroxide, then forced to eat strips of their own flesh, before being mercifly drawn and quartered in front of their own families.
As for the UK Educational system, I don't know enough about it, except what little I see on BBC programs aired here in Canada...and how much is mentioned about the subject in "Dr. Who?"? :D

I can but agree.
Because I had the cheek/audacity to make less than complimentary comments (criticising the abuse of English) -I received a hail of personal abuse - and threats of physical violence against my corporal entity.
Which was upsetting.
Seems some get hugely upset - if you try to explain their communication system is lacking. Like they're waving the wrong flags or signals.
But I don't suppose there's much new about that - and it will all be the same tomorrow.

Fella, if yer don't like it, then look somewhere else bro.

Seriously, like the man once said, if you don't like to see something, then pluck out your eye.

It may not be so much a negative reflection on our educational system as in some people's inability to type and even less desire to spell check for various reasons.

I disagree with Mockingbird in that all the "smart" people have real work...some smart people are intelligent enough to have retired early and still enjoy having fun online.

The demographics of Yahoo Answers is much broader than some realize.

asking for perfect spelling here is like saying that people should wear suits or uniforms all the time -- even to stay home and watch TV.
you need to wear a suit for a job interview, that doesn't mean you're a slob or an idiot if you don't wear one to fetch your mail in the morning.
i do question the intelligence of anyone who goes to most sections of YA and expects intelligence. this is the Internet, genius! It is dominated by 13yr olds and ppl like me who have boring jobs and post random answers to avoid doing real work.
The smart ppl are doing real work.
why did you *ask* this question instead of doing some yourself if you're so superior?
