My neighbor is shooting his gun in his backyard What do I do? It's not a bb gun, not airsoft. and he doesn't like us. Do we call the cops?

He actually isn't our neighbor, he's our neighbors son, we didn't tick him off. He just wanted a Walmart to go in the property adjacent to our land. He has come over and cussed my dad out many times. My dad hates him too. We made signs for him that said "howard u suck" we haven't stuck them out yet, but we may soon (within next month). Im not stupid enough to stick them out now (expeccially when he has a gun in his hand)

Yes - call the Police and ask to remain anonymous.
Also advise them that you have a long-standing, ongoing neighbor dispute, and that you are afraid of your neighbor.

In Texas we shoot back. In your case the question is "why haven't you called the cops yet?"
Seems more like you needed some attention for some reason. I know the first thing I do when there's a possible life threatening situation is to run to the computer and ask the Yahoo Answers community what I should do. Gonna have to throw a flag on the play for BULL!!!!!!!!

This can be reported to the police, discharging a firearm in the city limits is illegal.
As far as the signs you made, throw them away. This guy is obviously not stable, you do not want to do anything to provoke him.

Yes-call the police. Almost all towns/cities have ordinances against discharging firearms inside city limits without goood reason.
But first, make sure you can corroberate this. You can do this by finding out if another (trustworthy) neighbor has noticed this (very likely) and will backyou up. And/or you might want to discretely get a video record of him shooting his gun.
Then call the cops and let them teach this idiot a lesson! :)

You should call the police and ask if there is any law prohibiting him from firing his gun in the city limits. Most cities do prohibit this but not all. He may be within his rights to do target practice.
It might be a great opportunity for you to go buy a gun and join him in killing some bottles and paper targets...you said you don't get along well..maybe its an opportunity to mend the fence.

If he is being reckless with the gun call the police.
I don't know the law in your state but in GA as long as the bullet does not leave his property he is within the law.
