You cut it up anyway to make salad. Is there any difference in quality between solid and chunk white tuna?

Personally, I don't like chunk. . .I've found scales in it.
The meat is too many different textures for me.

I would use it for a macaroni salad. I like the solid for its firm texture and not too much 'Tuna' taste.

I still look over the solid white (in water) It just doesn't take me a half hour !! (lol)

I don't mind paying $1.39 a can.

Solid White Tuna

I think the only difference between the solid white and the chunk is that whenever I purchase the chunk, I get lots and lots of little pieces that fall out when I drain the can. With the solid white, I don't lose any of the tuna.

I used to buy the Albicore tuna until I read that it has a higher mercury count than the cheaper tuna so I switched. I would rather be getting the better stuff - tastes better and less loss.

If you can't taste a difference then I agree, no sense in spending extra money.

HOWEVER, if you were asking about the difference between chunk light vs. albacore I would say go for the chunk light every single time. I know a lot of people prefer albacore but they are different species of tuna and the albacore is much higher in mercury - not something I like to add to my diet when chunk light tastes just as good to me!

I prefer Solid White Albacore in Water. The firmest, whitest, best Albacore ever.

Chunk White Albacore is pre-chunked to make mixing in tuna salads even easier!
Chunk Light Tuna is perfect for sandwiches and casseroles! Too mushy!

I think the solid white tuna is a better quality; is leaner and taste better in foods and salads. There is definately a difference. But if you are banking on economy, I would say chunk white is the next best thing. ; )

We all KNOW that LIGHT tuna is safer (and some say tastier) than WHITE. Severely limit ingesting white(albacore) tuna. But of the LIGHTS, is solid light just as healthy as chunk light?

I'm getting 900 freaking dollars since I'm an unwed mother of a bastard 5 year old. I have no idea but I assure you, it's going to be something uber-awesome. I hate beer and men over 19 so I'm going with paying credit cards except I don't have any credit cards. Sweet.

There is less fat and other undesirable things in the solid white tuna. Also, it holds up better and when you eat the salad, it doesn't feel like you are eating something mushy.
