I prefer to see it more visually. Your chart is static, and doesn't show the origin of each denomination. Check out my reference.

I don't feel persecuted. I think I and my belief system are threatened a LOT more by conflict between religions, since the result of that seems to be radicalization. I've never known them to team up against atheists. Besides, if I didn't favor live and let live all around, I might sacrifice some integrity.

1 Cor. 1: 10- 13 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that ye speak the same thing, and that their be NO divisions among you; that ye be perfectly joined(united) together in the same mind and the same judgment.
For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
Now this I say, thatevery one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?

Also 2 Cor. 13:11, 1 Cor. 12:25, Rom. 16:17, Eph. 4:4-6 and more.

I do not belong to a church that is divided, I belong to the one that is described in the Bible. Rom. 16:16

Kind of blows them apart in their own system of faith doesn't it when you look at the dates .

Te chart is helpful yet limited. It fails to address charismatic denominations etc.....
I like to think I am grounded in Christianity...ie it was my family and cultural heitage but I have matured beyond identifying with any one denomination or religion.

I read the comparison between Christianity which uses Catholics as its comparison to Muslims. This in itself is incorrect. There were Hebrew Christians before Christ. The NT is an continuation from the OT of Christian history, prophecy, and laws.
Catholicism in itself isn't considered Christian by most scholars. Peter was not the "first pope" as Catholics are taught to believe.
A better book to read is "The Religious Experience of Mankind", by Ninian Smart. It is a book on comparitive religions from the 80's.
I have studied world religions as my major in college as well as Philosophy. This chart is incorrect.

I too don't fall. See this:
According to David Barrett et al, editors of the "World Christian Encyclopedia: A comparative survey of churches and religions - AD 30 to 2200," there are 34,000 separate Christian groups in the world today. "Over half of them are independent churches that are not interested in linking with the big denominations."

The link malfunctioned. All that shows is the title and one short sentence talking about the chart, then there's just a long blank white page. I'd love to see it. Maybe you could get us there through another link.

Thanks to CC above for a chart. I've never heard this term before, but I guess I would call me and my family Restorationists. We are born again Christians but don't affiliate ourselves with any particular religion. Thanks, now I know what to call myself. lol
