The Spirit of Christ is the crucial part.
John 15:5
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Jesus works by and through His Spirit and reveals Himself through His Word. We can read all we want, and try all we want, but apart from the Power of God we can do nothing. Yes we are to use the means God has given us but the "crucial" part is God causing them to work.
John 6:63
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

We have to grow in the grace & knowledge of Jesus through His Word. As we grow in the knowledge of God's Word the Holy Spirit opens up our understanding when we have need. If we start thinking like the Word then in needed situations scripture is brought to our minds and we speak accordingly.
John 14:26 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
It is also crucial to KNOW Gods Word bc in 2 Peter 3:17 it says 17 You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;
When we KNOW Gods Word and it is grounded in us we won't be led by error of the wicked nor fall so easily. We won't be easily deceived.
2Peter 3:18 says “but grow” αυξάνεσθε is the Greek word which means to increase/grow and don’t stop. Like a tree that takes roots and the roots spread and increases in height. This is what we should strive for and the Lord blesses and reveals more & more to the diligent that are hungry for Him; His Word.
The Lord bless you & keep you and your family. May you grow more & prosper in the Lords Word and keep bearing fruit. I'll close up with this verse.
Psalm 1:1-3
1 Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.

John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep my commandments." 2Tim 3:16 "All Scripture is breathed by Elohim and profitable for teaching.... " (THE SCRIPTURES ISR, south africa) Salvation is like a marriage contract: Take YHVH's name, follow His rules, and you become part of the "bride" of Messiah, and He will save you in the end.

John;1:12 ..power to "become" a son of God..(stay with me) john;14,15,16,..Jesus talks about the differant attributes of the Holy Spirit..(they are all true!) John;1:33 (speaks for itself..) John;7:38-39, (will be in us flowing out of us "literally!") Romans;1:16, (Paul is speaking to "Christians!" not sinners..the "Power of God" (again) as in John;1:12? unto Salvation!(notice: they are already "Born Again..") Romans;10:17, Faith,(the God kind..) is received through "hearing" the Word of God (or Living Word of God-Jesus Christ, ref: John;1:1-5, book of Genesis...and God "said, and God called, (He spoke!) in verse 2 of Gen;1, you will notice; the Spirit of God went "First" then the Word of God; and then the "occurance" (this is why the Spirit and Word agree..) also within us...the Spirit and Word will "agree" God never contridicts Himself...(people do..) now...Romans;12:2 the "Transformation" by the "renewing of the "mind", (process of becoming "Christ Like") Steps to learning; Proverbs; 1:2-7, and 2:1-5 (this is not "all" but it's a good start for all who wish to "know" "Peace!" the Spirit of the Lord be with you all ...

Know that evil shall not triumph:
Are You not from everlasting,
O LORD my God, my Holy One?
We shall not die.
O LORD, You have appointed them for judgment;
O Rock, You have marked them for correction.
You are of purer eyes than to behold evil,
And cannot look on wickedness.
Why do You look on those who deal treacherously,
And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours
A person more righteous than he?
Why do You make men like fish of the sea,
Like creeping things that have no ruler over them?
Hab 1:12-14
"Behold the proud,
His soul is not upright in him;
But the just shall live by his faith. -Hab 2:4
Through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

It means consistently and persistently seeking God to know him better and have a deeper understanding of him. It means following his word and wanting to please him,or more simply put: just talk to him.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5&6.
That's one I have memorized. Just meeting God is not enough, in order to grow in grace and knowledge you need to read the Bible, talk about Him with others, pray, and be in fellowship with believers.
I would say I've grown most in my faith by observing what God has done in my life and in the lives of others, and seeing His response to prayer. I rely on Him, not as Someone that I take for granted, but as Someone that I can trust, not only with my life, but with the lives of my loved ones, my family. He proves Himself worthy of all glory and praise.
