This is one of the questions I had when I was a Christain that has never been answered for me.
I tried to make it make sense on my own with the following arguements.
The devil. That was my first thought. But then I realised that the bibles says the Devil was cast out of heaven by God. This would incate that the Gods word is more powerful then that of the devil because Gods word itself is all powerful. The devil could have no effect on it.
My next thought was that it was free will. This assumption worked fine because it is the truth we all have free will. But then I thought that reguardless of free will infallible is infallible and infallible couldn't possibly be found to be fallible.

Could someone please clarify this for me?
Thanking you all in advance.

Peace and Good Food.

If god cast out the devil from heaven , why didn't he just kill him ? He had no troublr killing all the people and animals of the world in the great flood just because he was angry .
Also the Qu'ran says it is infallible ( and must be taken lierally until the end of time ) . Yet there are are clerics who find all sorts of different meanings in it . Everything from banning music to forbidding Pizza .
Maybe these books WERE written by fallible MEN and not god ? Do ya think ?
Even the books of LDS are subject to multiple interpetations . And the JWs are constantly reinventing the "Word" of the Bible . And of course you have the contradictions between the OT , NT, Lost Gospels , Nostic Gosples , and the Dead Sea Scrolls . And thats all without getting into the Asian Relgions and Scientology

I too believe that God is in us all and with it a power that is often not recognized. I do base this on the religious education I received growing up, although I also see the Bible as inspired writing and not to be taken literally. But there is need for caution here. It is one thing to believe we have God's power within us, and another to come to believe we are God. This latter has been the cause of many a religious leader (or a Charles Manson) to destroy rather than build. I don't think anyone can predict an exact time that events will take place no matter how gifted they may be. How often over the years has the end of the world been predicted - and not taken place? My own conviction that God is within all has come about through the realization that friends of mine, though claiming to be atheists, have demonstrated frequently that they are capable of the type of self sacrifice and kindness that comes from love and where there is love, there is God. There are however people who hate and I have difficulty in finding where God is within such people - but I believe He is still present but hidden in such people. I also agree that it is up to us to make what changes we believe should be made to improve the world near or far.

Why are you so concerned with whether or not God's word or Bible is infallible, if you believe in God and believe He is all Truth and that He can not speak any lies then don't you think you should be more concerned with whether or not your going to be in heaven with Jesus or hell with satan, I would have thought a God that sent His ONLY Son to die a horrible and painful death for you, so he could give you eternal life and a personal relationship with Him would be someone you could trust completely. Also as human beings we can only see in one demension which is our own piont of view, God on the other hand can see past, present and future, like He says in Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you plans for good and not for evil to give you a future and a hope. you also have to realize that the word of God has been translated from hebrew and greek origins and unless you have an absolute understanding of thoughs languages you will lose the true meaning of the word.I hope this helps and God bless

Humans wrote the Bible. One cannot deny that it was written by man. Man has reproduced it in many different ways, interpretations, and multiple languages. A lot is lost and deleted in translation, which leaves the door open for personal interpretation by individuals, groups, churches and governments.

The Bible has been used as a catalyst to control people through a fear-based doctrine, which was/is used to justify countless murders, crimes, and injustices. Disharmony results from the various interpretations of the Bible, for the good and the bad. It shouldn't be used as a weapon for offense or defense. This is why humanity is divided upon its meaning.

Because humanity is fallible.

Humanity is divided because it doesnt follow Gods directive for HOW to read and understand the scriptures found in 2 Tim. 2:15.

Once you begin to follow Gods directive and realize that there are clearly TWO programs found in the Bible, it will all start making sense.

Most professing Christians are trying to live by the instructions given to the Nation Israel which was the Law of Moses and Prophecy. God isn't IN that program today, but has changed programs. Judaism isnt Christianity AND Christianity isnt Judaism. They are TWO separate forms of worship that God has laid out for us in His Word.

If you want to find out more about these DIFFERENT programs and which one God is in TODAY, so that you can cooperate with Him IN IT, please visit www.graceteacher.com

It is because of free will that the humanity is divided on the meaning of the Bible. People have the free will to accept truth or not. People have the free will to define truth for themselves or take the Bible as truth.

The free will that we have is the reason why the meaning of the bible is so divided amongst humanity. The best thing is though that the truth (the Bible) is designed to set us free and bring us back to the truth...the Bible

Because in the early Church, the leaders were ruled by the leading of the Holy Spirit.

When the apostles, died, suceeding men, took it upon themselves to try to interpret Scripture WITHOUT the leading of the Holy Spirit-ergo, so many different interpretations, instead of the ONE , which the Apostles preached!

Most people come to scriptures with their own ideas, and read these ideas into the book. This is not the book's fault. This causes there to be many different interpretations. Most, maybe all, of them are wrong.

I find it hard to believe that a book written by "men" not "god" can be infallible. Sure, there are plenty of reasons listed... yet again... its the words of man. I have no problem with religions... however I do believe that people should think for themselves.
