- I have a female Muslim friend who married out of the faith.

- She is having a hard time with her family and friends (muslim) accepting her choice.

- I do know what she says about the religion and the acceptance of marriage outside the faith.

- I want to know what the logical reasoning is according to Muslim men/women or anyone else who knows.

- He did not convert and she did not insist that he should.

@ Kam A : Even Muslim women have the free choice to decide who they marry?
- My friend has been more adaptive of the western mindset and so she went ahead and married out of faith.
She was born a muslim in an Islamic country, brought up with Islamic faith.
As far as she tells me women are not allowed to marry out of Islam by faith, unless the man converts.

hello everyone, i am a muslim girl, i am not really scholar in islam but i shall try to answer the question as much as i know. well there would be no mistake that mixed marriages frequently cause serious consequences. This is true even amongst Christian groups such as Protestants and Catholics. I recall the Catholic Church forbidding marriage outside of their particular faith, even to other Christian groups. They even provided forms to be signed prior to "mixed" marriages wherein it was agreed that any children resulting from the marriage would only be raised as Catholic. The reason Islam mandates marriages only to "believers" is due to the very concept of Islam itself. The word "Islam" means: "Total surrender, submission, obedience in sincerity and peace to Almighty Allah." One who is following "Islam" is known in Arabic as a "Muslim" (Mu-Islam, i.e.; "One who does the action of ISLAM" [that is, they believe in One God without partners and follow the teachings of Quran and Muhammad, peace be upon him). A true Muslim is one who has totally committed themselves to the Will of Almighty God on His Terms. Many people are just not ready to make that kind of life commitment. Doing the Will of God on earth as it is in Heaven, is actually a part of the teaching we find in two Gospels in the Holy Bible, wherein Jesus, peace be upon him, taught his followers how to pray.even the Muslim men are not permitted to marry from other than the "believers" which are the christians, muslims and jewish and they have to be virgins. The Muslim women could not be permitted to marry from any except believers, due to the serious problem of raising the children without the correct beliefs. i hope i really helped to clear it out.

Men and women were created differently and they have different rules. Women do not have to Fast in RamaDaan or pray when they have menstruation. Men have to feed their wives before feeding their poor parents although they have to listen to their mothers before listening to their wife's requests. God Knows more about us than we know about ourselves and so for sure every rule God Revealed has a wisdom. People who know this would see it as wise to follow the rule even if they did not see the wisdom simply because they are sure there is a wisdom.

I'm not Muslim, but I bet the real answer is this because it makes sense (although I cannot be sure as I am not Muslim.) According to Islam, the religion passes through the father. So a man marrying someone of another faith is pushing Islam forward and making more Muslims, whereas a Muslim woman who marries someone of another faith is just losing more (potential) Muslims.

Peace
Again, I am not Muslim, I could not tell you for sure, this is just a guess.

I am a muslim guy, I have done abit of research on islam to better my understanding, however there is a few explanations in this situation no1 is culture clash ie parents are from abroad and are abiding to their own strict views (not open minded etc...)
no2 a person is not actually born as a muslim or christian etc...but only the practice of religion and faith will make you what you are and not youre name, which means everyone has a right to do and believe what is right for them, remember every one will go in their own grave
etc...I dont want to go on for long but but every one is entitled to their own choice even in islam!!!

I don't think it is acceptable for the men to marry out of their faith unless she converts.

This of course is referring to muslim fundies, not the normal muslims. Kind of like fundies in christianity, judaism, etc....
