Sounds like video drivers for sure. When I install xp, it's crazy slow til I put the nvidia drivers in.

Yes you need to update your drivers. To do this go to the website of your computer manufacturer and click support. enter "xxx drivers" where xxx is your model name (usually found under your pc if its a laptop) in the search field and click search.you should find links to download drivers.

When you say downgraded, do you mean you did a fresh install of Windows XP?

If you did a fresh install, then you have to make sure to install the latest drivers for every piece of hardware you have, including chipset drivers.

Go to your system properties, select Device Manager and make sure that the latest drivers are installed for each of the entries you see; any entry with a question mark (?) is missing a driver.

It would have been better to research this question before 'downgrading' to Windows XP.

If you purchased a new computer with Windows Vista installed and then you 'downgraded' to Windows XP, it is possible that some device drivers were present in Vista that are not present in XP.

On your computer's keyboard, press the key-combination: WinKey + Pause/Break.

This calls up the Device Manager applet. Have a look at the devices. If there are any erroneous drivers or devices without drivers, they'll show up in Device Manager.

If you're hooked up to the Internet, you may have luck with right-clicking the device's icon and choosing to upgrade the device driver.

Your video driver must not be installed or updated.
