I will graduate in Dec 08' with a 2 year electronic degree. I will have $17,000 in student loans to repay. I still want a bachelor's before I start serving in the air force so I can be an officer. Under CLRP they will pay $10,000 of my $17,000 I owe right?

Is there a way to get the Air Force to pay my remaining 2 years college tuition BEFORE I start serving?

The only way I know of to do that is to get an ROTC scholarship. You also need to know that student loan repayment is only offered to enlisted, not officers.

discuss options with college finance advisors of the four year school and with recruiting for armed services. i think it would be worth while to wait the 2 years to go into service as officer. better for your career with them / your service expereince and for money . for the 2 years of college to get your BA .. consider one of two options ... either work hard / take max courses and go summers to get done faster . or alternative put yourself on a 4 year plan and work part time by a company in business that pays for college as a benefit / called tuition reimbursement. when you graduate you can go to military as officer or you might find you are made a nice offer to keep you in the business job. ask a lot of people / make a careful decision. career planning is very important. happy new year.

If you go in enlisted then no. If you go that route you will delay your education by at least 4 years. The only way you can go to school first is with ROTC scholarships or go to the Acadamy. Try this if you can, it is a better route and you would be an officer while you serve and make more money.

now why would they do that?! for one, CLRP is only paid in installments once you finish basic training and school..and is NOT available to Officers.

the only way is to go ROTC.. but even then you are not guaranteed a scholarship.

You can look into the ROTC program... they do have a 2 year program for Junior College transfers and others. They do have scholarships and other benefits for those in the ROTC program..
