Try T gel shampoo by Neutragena. Perhaps it is like a cradle cap...some people just have oily scalps and the oil builds up. T Gel smells a but weird (tar-ish) but works. My daughter used it as a tween when her 'cradle cap' came back.
It's nothing your friend has done...she isnt dirty or anything..it's just that wonderous mystery of the human body (oh joy!)
Good luck.

You might try scalpacin (sorry for the spelling). If she has an oily scalp this will help

Lice are yellow, not brown. She's scratching her head too hard

Tell her to use Head and Shoulders or Selsum Blue. Go see a doc if it persists, it can be soriasis, or another skin condition

i agree with the first answerer....have her scrub her head in the shower...if its blood, hot water and scrubbing will take it away. if it doesnt go away...it could be lice but i dont think it does that. sorta like if you have fleas (well your pet, lol) and you scatch them....you would get the brown under your nails...thats blood and flea poop. so i guess if lice do that it could be...but it would have to have been there for a while id think. idk id go to the doc just to be safe

She is probably scratching her head too hard and making her scalp bleed. Tell her to try another dandruff shampoo, like Nuetragena T Gel. And if the symptoms persist, yes she should go see a doctor to ensure there isn't something more serious going on.
