More than "mild misery," yes, there are well documented links to cancer in those with Endometriosis, as well as high risks of malignant shifts in the disease itself. Women with Endometriosis have a greater risk, specifically, of developing cancer of the breast or ovaries, and a greater risk of cancers of the blood and lymph systems, including non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. More recently, melanoma has also been linked to Endo. For one small example, a study of 20,686 Swedish women hospitalized for Endometriosis revealed a 20% greater risk of developing cancer overall, particularly of the breast, ovaries and the blood and lymph cells, during an 11-year period. As another example, a study on 4,000 Endometriosis patients in the United States and Canada indicated links to other serious medical conditions, including a 9.8% incidence of melanoma, compared with 0.01% in the general population, a 26.9% incidence of breast cancer, compared with 0.1% in the general population; and an 8.5% incidence of ovarian cancer, compared with 0.04% in the general population. Women with Endometriosis who participated in the study also had a greater incidence of autoimmune conditions such as thyoid diease and Meniere's disease. These links/studies and more are well documented extensively in various medical journals [Human Reproduction 2006 21(5):1237-1242; doi:10.1093/humrep/dei462; European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology; American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1997;176:572-579; there are plenty more). Endo is not as benign a disease or as insignificant as some would like to think. You can learn more at http://www.endocenter.org and http://www.endometriosis.org if you'd like to investigate further. Hope that helps.

You really need to read "Endometriosis Bible & Violet Protocol" by Zoe Brown (also available in electronic format here: http://www.endometriosisbible.info ). It's about how to eradicate endometriosis disease forever. It worked for me, you will see results in only a matter of weeks. Good Luck!

No, just some mild to severe misery if you have endometriosis. I had a doctor tell me that it does not put a woman at a higher risk for cancer and I've never read anything about a link to cancer, either. It doesn't increase mortality, either. However, women with endometriosis are more likely to also develop a degree of Depression and Fibromyalgia. These diseases have been shown to have a link. I have all three, and so do my aunt and two cousins. My endo was severe until I got treated with Lupron, now it is mild. My depression is mild to moderate but has been easily treated with Celexa, and my Fibro has been severe but has lessened over the years and has also been treated with Celexa and a few other drugs, not so easily though.

Never had endometriosis but, I did have endometrial cancer at 31. I think studies have shown a link though.

I am almost 60. had a hysterectomy at a young age with endometriosis problems. said it would stop the disease....wrong.

Have been told I may end with cancer still. I can only attest to the pain, and symptoms, there are so many new things today. check on line for natural medicines to assist with the pain. best of luck
