I have only smoked for 5 years and I swear i have heard the least creative, and pro-propagandized speach's from people who my habit doesnt consern. Random pleople in restaurants have said "You know that filthy, disgusting habit is going to kill you" as I walk in from smoking outside (as these non-smokers have bannished the presence of my cigarettes from their air)

and jessica, i have a son too, and i keep my smoke away from him. keep my smoke away from your kids and there's no problem. i always back away when people are coming towards the door; i don't want them to be subjected to my smoke either... but that's no excuse for people to be rude about it!

I understand what you mean. As the first person demonstrates, this is a concern about respecting your right to smoke. While this is not the best habit, it is nonetheless legal. Besides, half these people that dont smoke overindulge in other things or tend to be overweight. The people that give you advice really should just shove it up their A**.

Many people who say things like that have lost loved ones to a death brought on by smokes.
They may be in mourning and may not want others to go through what they and their loved ones have gone through.

I hate smelling smoke right in front of a store or a restaurant as I walk into it, I guess that's why other people make a comment because the smell can really be bothersome. I suppose if smoke smelled like roses or lasagna no one would complain about it. Could you imagine seeing a overweight person eating a big lasagna and saying something like "that's gonna kill you one day" as you walk by? Haha, nope that's unheard of. But I never say anything to anyone smoking because the smell only lasts a few seconds and life goes on.

if u want to enjoy ur fag, go somewhere private so that u only pollute the air around you.

Just because u like to smoke doesn't mean the people around have to suffer your fate. u are polluting my air

I am a non-smoker, and I don't behave like the people you describe. Lots of my friends smoke, and since they are literate adults, I assume they are making an informed decision. I am however tired of judgmental people, smokers, non-smokers, whoever.

Why do you care what people say, unless on some level you believe the things they say. I am an ex-smoker but I never criticize anyone who continues to smoke as I know first hand that you have to want to quit if you're going to be successful at it. Perhaps some day you'll want to, but if not, that's your choice too. I suggest that if you feel you have to comment back, simply say "thank you for your concern" and go on your merry way.
