The Bible says man is dominant over nature. If that be the case, then why is man the only species that poisons the air, food, and water he needs to survive? Why is man the only species that hunts for sport? And why is man the only species with no regard for God's creation (dumping atomic waste in the ocean, deforesting the Amazon jungle, over fishing to the extinction of entire species as examples). So I ask, when does the dominance part kick in? Man is a plague and had better change to being a caretaker instead. Just my opinion. Got feed back?

That's how we show our dominance. We beat nature into submission.

You must read and comprehend the words. God gave man NOT human dominion NOT ownership over His creation. Man is obedient to the will of his Father. Human practice the "Right of Self-determinism", "free will", they create fiction in the form of persons, nations, countries. They dress up in costumes and play soldier, bishop, pope, police officer, judge. They deceive, hurt, and kill based on their statuettes, acts, and laws while ignoring God's Law. They look with their eyes and see things that are not there - Blindness - and imagine things that are - delusion. Even though, there are these human be-ings here there is kindness, love, and obedience of The (theo) Law, God's Law. Whether you call him Elohim, Yah weh, the God of Abraham, Source, Static, The One, The Force it matters not. "It's what you DO and THINK that determine whether you carry the mark of the beast....". "Fear leads to Anger, Anger leads to Hatred, Hatred leads to suffering" does it matter if these true words came from a puppet.
Dominion, Dominate, Dominant species.... Tending the Garden of Eden without The Rule book (as a HU-MAN BE-ING) results in a Garden full of Weeds.

1. Dominance does not equal beneficence. You are sayin g that because man does bad things he is not dominant? I'm not sure I follow that logic. Hitler was dominant for a few years. That doesn't make him good. Martin Luther King never dominated that doesn't make him bad. So dominance has nothing to do with goodness.

2. You are completely ignoring several things. We may pollute but we are also the only species that seeks to preserve other species from extinction even when that extinction is not tied to human activity. We are the only species that tries to CLEAN the environment as well. The very fact that you, a human being, are so concerned about the effect humans have on the environment makes you a part of a movement. There are millions of human beings right now trying to clean up pollution and to spread the word about the importance of doing so. Therefore I reject your negative assessment of humanity.

3. Who says animals don't pollute ? Would you drink from a pond filled with peaceful hippos? I hope not. You would get a mouth full of feces. Animals do pollute. They make messes all over the place. We make more mess but that is because we make different and more advanced shelters and tools etc. Still your average cow puts 2 1/2 pounds of methane gas into the air every day. Multiply that by the number of cattle on Earth and THEN tell me they don't pollute.

4. Animals do hunt each other into extinction and to claim otherwise is ridiculous. WE are the only species that attempts to regulate these things. If you think a lion won't hunt gazelles until there are no more you are either crazy or uninformed.

Man is not a plague but low self-esteem is. Perhaps you should work on the way you view your own species and by extension yourself. We are animals with souls and we make changes all the time. We ARE caretakers. This does not mean we don't make mistakes or that we are unworthy.

I hope this answers your question.
PEACE

Dominant? Yes. But that doesn't mean we always do what's right.

God gave man a great responsibility when He gave him dominion over the Earth. Those who live up to this responsibility should be honored and emulated, and despite your cynicism there ARE people who are being great stewards of the Earth.

Peace be to you all.

You fail to understand the meaning of dominant. It is because we are dominant that we are able to do all those things you mentioned. Being dominant does not necessarily mean being moral.

You just answered your own question. Man has to be dominant to do all of those things, if he wasn't over nature, how would he? But all of what you're saying is just an overstatement. I'd go into it, but then I'd fit the stereotype for the mentality of people who reply to these things on the internet.

Kind of a shallow, slanted perspective...
No mention of anything good man has done, as say opposed to if the dogs ruled...

I think cockroaches are the dominant species, they have been here since the beginning of time, and will be here long after we are gone!
