A better question is, why did God create the devil in the first place? If God knows everything, wouldn't he have known what was going to happen?.......

There has to be opposition in all things. How would know that you were living a peaceful life if you had never experienced pain or hurt or sadness? And we were sent to Earth for a big test - to see if we would choose good over evil. How can we make the choice if there is no evil?

Because, according to the story, He loves him and created him before all others. Satan is an being of fire, so being thrown into a lake of it is no prob for him. It is a prob if we were to join him there though, for we are creatures of clay. Another point is that the evil one was created immortal. (If you are immortal, you cannot die--basic) However, no matter how strong the devil may seem, with God's help, he is easily put underfoot.

The Devil Satan has a job to do he has to finish what he started, he has to Finnish gathering together all those who oppose Gods will and revel in lies and deceit, because though you may not know it there is still an ancient war going on which started in Heaven and is playing out here and in our minds too.

Because duality and contention between positive and negative spiritual forces is the basis for Western relgion, dating back to Zorostrianism. If Western religion eliminated the idea of an "Adversary" ("Satan"), there would be little to distinguish it from Eastern religion in which this duality does not exist.

There still would be troubles in the world. We exist in a plane of dualities, that's the bottom line really. You can't have one without the other. We all have both good and evil in us.
