I REALLY shouldn't be allowed in the kitchen. Every time I'm in there, I somehow screw up whatever it is I'm trying to make. Today, for example, I was trying to make this chocolate stuff for my little cousin (she's going to something tonight that's French inspired and everyone has to bring something). You have to blend all the ingredients in a blender before you can cook it. Well, I thought it was going to take forever going by the directions...so I decided to double up the ingredients in the blender and get twice as much done. NEVER DO THAT! Even though the blender wasn't completely full and I had the lid on, as soon as I pushed the button it went everywhere. I'm going to be cleaning up chocolate for a week.

And that's nothing compared to some of my other mishaps in the kitchen, but I'll just keep those to myself...lol

smiles: I've done something similar, except my story involves a dish towel and an oven...

well one time in the middle of the night, i was making soup(i dont know why) and i was very tired. well there was a bunch of papers by the counter(we put them by the stove which is a dumb idea) and they caught on fire! i started freaking out and used the sink hose and tried to spray it. i was so uncoordinated that the water got everywhere! then the fire alarm went off and i couldnt stop the sound so i threw it and it broke into pieces! i forgot about the soup which started boiling over the pot creating a bigger mess so i had a fire, water everywhere, a smashd up fire alarm, and soup broth everywhere! after i cleaned it all up i tried to pour the soup i had left into a bowl but the soup caused the bowl to fall over so the bowl shattered and the rest of the soup was on the ground! i did this when i was alot younger though! but i still make LOTS of messes!

I almost burned my kitchen down when I left some grease on a burner, while I answered my front door! I had to replace the dry wall behind my stove with tile and paint all the walls.

If I counted the messes I have made in the kitchen I wouldn't allow myself into my own kitchen.
I can recall a few years back I decided to cook live lobster. Bought a huge pot as well. By the time I was finished you would have thought a hurricane had ripped through the kitchen. I had water everywhere.

The worst disaster would have to have been many many years ago making (what they are now calling la leche, gourmet) sweetened condensed milk to make caramel. I was told how to do it and how long to cook the tin in the water, but I wasn't told to make puncture holes in the tin. Fortunately I wasn't in the kitchen when the tin exploded. I had caramel on the ceiling, floors, walls, every appliance including a coat hanging on the back of the kitchen door. Did I mention windows? I still have nightmares over that. You know how bad and how long it takes to wipe up spilled milk? You simply cannot imagine how long it takes to get caramel off every available surface. You have to think in terms of years.

i tried to flip scrambled eggs, lol, and they went all over the stove. and...into the burner and they burned! lol OHHHH and once i was making mashed potatos, the instant ones, and i put the stove on, put the flakes in, and let it sit there, somehow i had forgotten that they were in there with the heat on...anyways, 10 minutes later i decided i wanted to put the milk and butter and water in and such and start up teh potatos...i went to go put it in and stir it and it wouldnt stir...and i tried to pour them out and they wouldnt come out!! lol so there i was with that stuff in there and i was just kinda like,...why ownt they come out? and i scraped them out, and they were burnt!! lol. i had to make a WHOLE nother pack!

and! as a bonus for ya...i started something on fire...that had grease in it and i freaked so i threw water on it and it just fired up some more! i think i ran outside with it and dumped snow on it. lol.

I was boiling a pot of barley water for a home economics weekly cooking assignment in secondary school. I heard a pinch of salt in the pot for bring out the flavour of the barley.

I forgotten to add the salt in the pot and poured it into the cup already. The teacher is coming to my station for tasting and grading.

I accidentally added a tablespoonful of salt into 1 cup of barley water. Hehhe...it still taste good thou... heh

At work once I forgot to close the valve on the fryer after cleaning it. Hot oil poured all over the floor during the dinner rush! We were throwing rags and towels over it, trying to mop it up while still having to cook and literally could take 2 steps and then slide to the freezers. We closed early so nobody got hurt.

At home, I was trying to pit 2 pounds of bing cherries. The chopping block got stained, the walls, the floor, my apron was covered and even my clothes under it! I've never pitted cherries since.

I should stay out of the kitchen as well. I don't usually have the messy issues. I like to start the kitchen on fire! My worst experience was when I was frying chicken wings in two different frying pans and while I was putting chicken in one frying pan, the other frying pan was on high with a pile of grease in it and it caught on fire. I didn't know what to do because I did know enough not to throw water on a grease fire so I opened the kitchen window and threw the whole pan "still on fire" out the window. My mess was outside in the patio.
