4 english classes- but they have different choices like literature, writing, creative writing, interpretation, etc... And it's so that people learn how to read, write, and speak properly as well as learning the grammatical aspects.

You would take English classes for each of the 4 years in high school. Usually this is English literature, not "how to speak."
