You want to know how to feel safe enough to be more intimate with others.

Man, that's something I struggle with constantly. One thing the years of therapy has taught me is to remind myself constantly that I am no longer that little 6 yr old dude whose dad was always looking for an excuse to beat somebody and whose mom was drunk most of the time.

That I had to learn some survival skills very quickly and expediently, but since I'm not in danger any more, now as what passes for an adult ;) they just hang me up instead of keeping me safe and sane.

Trying to unlearn those old habits, as the psychology people put it.

For me, it's just a matter of staying vigilent and reminding myself constantly, constantly, constantly.

Let me know if you fine any shortcuts to this problem.

You can't...if you want to be more intimate with others, you have to risk...risking opening yourself on a more intimate level, and depending on the situation, maybe also risking rejection........
Happy New Year...:)

Always wear protection, but keep in mind this does not protect you or anyone else from skin transferring diseases. Always get tested before, during and after each partner... and they MUST do the same so it's best to do it together. The only other option is to NOT have sex.

Use protection. A condom with spermicidal lube would be best. That way you don't contract any diseases and nobody gets pregnant. I know that some people are going to write rambling answers about how abstinence is the only way to be safe but that isn't true. It's a lie perpetuated by the church. The truth is that with the right protection and by compounding protection (you wear a condom she uses an insert) your chances of causing a pregnancy become impossibly small. a 99.999999 percent chance that you won't get your partner pregnant is great. Christians would have you believe that you're going to be the one 0.0000001 percent of people who the contraceptive fails. This is a lie. If you use birth control correctly you have a bigger chance of winning the lottery and getting hit by lightning in the same day than causing a pregnancy.

Unless we are receptive to the divine we are only defending the suffering.
In defending our suffering we are both refusing Love and refusing to be Love.
To open to the energy of God/all-that-is, we therefore penetrate this refusal or fearfulness, thus allowing receptivity to light.
To be light/love and live as this, you will find you are lifted from that, that binds, that limitation, the dross of base human existence. You are witness only, holding the energy of love.
This cannot be lived as a theory, or something you try on a Sunday.
This is a real consideration moment to moment, a discipline and a commitment to serve.

Blessings.

You can't---it's all a risk. You have to decide if it's worth it or not...

Make yourself safe? You mean non-threatening to others so that they are more comfortable around you here?

I really wouldn't worry about that, if that's what you mean. Just do or say whatever it is you gotta do or say.

Rev Soleil! That's mean.

On the other hand, I was going to say, "Just remember to use condoms." So I guess I'm not any better.
