Originally Moses and the slaves were going to be let go by the pharaoh as they marched their way back to the "holy land". But then they began to pillage and ransack villages on their way, stealing from and murdering the people from these villages. The pharaoh got wind of this, and wanted to protect the villagers. He sent his army to help the poor villagers, and then Moses, helped by God, drown them in the Reed Sea. Why would God do this to people who are trying to help people from getting killed and robbed?? .. is he choosing "favorites?" ...

No.. the lesson is to ALL people .. all meaning every single human ever made. .. that we all have to learn where to look for goodness. the earth is not "it". learning right from wrong is taught by God and when mankind ignores that certain problems for them are going to arise in myriad ways.

God also promises that He is going to wipe away all tears and sorrows as if they had never been though too. Best to read ALL of the scriptures and not just a few here and there.

No, it was not like that at all. Satan saw that God was going to fulfill a promise of making a nation and inspired pharaoh to try to stop it. The Egyptians had already given the Israelites their gold and treasures to get rid of them and the plagues. Satan has always used the neighboring nations of Israel to try to stop His promises, kind of like today.

Near as I recall there WERE no villages along the way. The promised land was on the other side of the Red Sea. The reason Pharoah chased them after releasing them was his own; wicked heart. He was considered a god himself and probably decided he wasn't going to listen to any other.
