Margarita Island is a mountainous tropical Caribbean island off the north shore of Venezuela.

EXCELLENT white sand beaches.

If you are into scuba diving, you are in luck because you can get some good deals. (cheap)You will find plenty of water sports to enjoy. Also some natural parks.

Best of all the island is NOT expensive. 80 US cents for a beer, less than $10.00 for a wonderful fish dinner.
Bring US dollars, (best) no travelers checks (hard to cash). The exchange rate is 2,150 Bolivars to $1 US dollar. If you rent a car use your credit card for the deposit but pay in Bolivars. You will receive 120% more for your dollars than the official rate.
Change your money a little at a time, you can't exchange it back.
Be careful at airport, a scam was going on about changing all your money into bolivars because it's the law. NOT TRUE.

Have a great trip)
