Absolutely not. Why would the insurance company pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for damage you caused, when you could not even pay the bill?
Do you get electricity for free? or how about your phone? or heat? Same with insurance, you don't get it if you don;t pay for it

No insurance, so if you were in NY, your registration was automatically cancelled and you were driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

I believe that the fact that it happend while the Ins was cancelled you will not be covered, but to be sure call an INS company and just ask them in general, but don't call your company, lol, take care.
