This sounds crazy, but I'm seiged in my room tonight! And I need to eat! So I will buy a few Pot Noodles...

Is it safe to boil bathroom tap water in a kettle and make a Pot Noodle from it???

I am from the UK. So only British people answer please ^^; I don't think the US has as high standards of cleanliness as us.

Also: My house is modern, about 5 years old.

I just checked with my brother and he said the cold tap comes off the same main supply as downstairs, just don't drink the warm water, it may come from a seperate tank and may not do you any good.

Yes, everyone have different immune system. Obviously tab water is vulnerable for contamination. if you boil it, you're almost safe from indigenous diseases.

don't use it , as a matter of fact if you have a prob w/ cleanliness standards maybe you should not be eating or making meals in your bathroom that's just about the sickest thing i've ever heard of.

You've made a good point here. Most UK homes bathroom taps are supplied from a storage tank in the loft, the same one that supplies water to the toilet. Admittedly most of these are now lagged and fitted with a lid but after seeing the crud and dead insects that had some how managed to build up in the bottom, I realised we were cleaning our teeth with this stuff. The cold water supply to the bathroom sink tap is now running direct from the mains.
If you boil it you should be OK :o)

Yes you can, the water that comes out the cold water tap in your bathroom is the same as what comes out the tap in your kitchen. Remember you do use it when you brush your teeth.

water in the bathroom usually comes from a tank that is usually in the loft - all sorts of nastys can get in the tank - dead birds , insects , dust , insulation etc. would not in any cercumstances use the water for cooking or drinking. Could you not bottle some water up from your kitchen tap?

Do not drink from the hot tap ...only the cold is good ..you do not need to boil this as it is as good as the water from Kitchen .

Use the cold tap, there is no difference!

I was always told not to as it usually comes from a small storage tank in the loft not direct from the mains so you don't know how fresh it is.

In a modern house you might not have such a tank so it could be OK - also bathroom tap water is used to rinse your mouth after brushing your teeth and you may sometimes swallow some of it.

The US has some pretty good water purification standards. And drinking tap water is tap water whether its from the bathroom or kitchen so knock your self out. If you get sick ... oh-well.
