Must my non-profit corporation have a 501(c)3 to recruit volunteers through Volunteer Match?

YES. You must be a registered nonprofit organization, with a tax ID number. This is how VolunteerMatch makes sure you are a legitimate organization.

I do not think so. the 501(c)3 just lets people use their denotations as taxes breaks.
