Just wondering what everyone thought about this. Do board presses, bands, chains, floor presses or any other form of lockouts help your raw bench. Personally i believe they do. It builds bar speed and power by lifting heavier weight at the top of the lift than you could through a full ROM. However i have heard alot of people say that they are only for equipment and straight sets and pause reps are the best for raw lifts.

how effective any of them are really depends on your specific weakness in that lift. to overcome any kind of training plateau, muscle imbalance, etc. you need to first identify the problem then devise a strategy to fix it using various exercises.

board presses, bands, chains, etc. are really for the advanced bench presser. it can take a good 10 years just to learn proper bench form based on the mechanics of "your" body
