Yes and all you have to do is go to the Court House in your city and take the birth certificate to the Bureau of Vital Statistics and you can have it corrected.

who's name isn't on your birth certificate? If you are talking about your Dad, well it could be that your parents weren't married at the time and the State you were born in didn't allow his name for that reason. Check with vital records in the State you were born. They can answer your question

Yes. The process is different for each state.

Contact your local Vital Statistics Office, (or Birth Certificate Office), and they can tell you what steps you need to do. You can find the number by looking under government offices in your yellow pages or by googling 'vital statistics in "insert your city, state" '.

The iffy part... If you have any doubts you'll need a DNA test, if he has any doubts and if you think he'll contest the addition of his name you'll need a court order and a DNA test.

Good luck.

Depends on your relationship iwth him and if he is a good father . If he is a good father and wants to be a round your child then yes . If he is a low life bum that you know won't even pay child support then i wouldn't even worry about it .

I think he'd have to sign it in order to be on it...or you'd have to do DNA testing.

No, you don't need to add it. In fact, he would have to sign a form and give his permission to have his name added to your birth certificate. Unless it really eats at you, there's no reason to go to the hassle of having your birth certificate changed. And if he's not on board with the change, best not to start something that can get sticky.

Can you add it on? Generally, you cannot make changes to birth certificates without court orders and much fiddling.

Presumably you are talking about your father's name missing on the birth certificate. All this means is that for whatever reason, your mother did not tell them the father's name when you were born.
