How is it that you know that the Bible is the actual words of God and not just written by men trying to help control people by instilling fear into them?
How do you know what happens to people after they die- have you yourself died and came back to tell?

Just curious.

Ok Psychedelic- who said I was agnostic and how in any way am I being militant? You seem to be the aggressive one. Whatever.

Anyways, I never said I wasn't a spiritual or faithful person- I believe in God- I just don't believe in organized religion. I don't need someone telling me what to think or feel.

All I know is that I should be a good person, and treat others as I want to be treated.

You can't deny that many people are complete d!cks and think it's all good 'cause they go to church on Sunday.

I know the Bible is true because it is the word of God! As far as dying and coming back to tell about it, Yes I did have a near death experience and I told everyone about it. I was in the tunnel walking toward the light when I saw a man, a holy man, (not Jesus) he took my hand and walked with me toward the light. He told me that the Father loves me and that my Grandson who was very sick would be alright and that I had to go back because it was not my time yet. I woke up in I.C.U. they were cutting my new sweater that I had received as a Christmas gift. They shocked my heart. I was in and out of consciousness for close to a week, because of the pain medication's they were giving me. But when fully awake I told every one I saw that Jesus loves them and that there is a life beyond this one. This happened 10 years ago.

It's the book of life and it's the word of God.

First: You need God and take him as your Lord and Savior

Second: You need to believe in God and have faith in him

Third: Read the Bible

Fifth: Pray because God will give you the answer if your trust in him.

Sixth: You have no right to down Christians. Who are you to judge anyone on their beliefs? That is what Christians is. The truth and we as Christians know the truth of God.

Seventh: I go to Church for God and God only. I go to Church to worship our Lord Jesus. It does not matter what anyone else thinks. The only one who matters is Jesus.

Eighth: You are not a believer of God. You just shown that here. You are the one who judged us Christian's who love and believe in God. You really need to grow up into the Lord. It shows you know nothing about our God who died for us. Get a clue Missy!!!

Stevenj967: You are absolutely right dear. She is scared it is the truth.

I am a "Darwinian", I believe in "natural selection' rather than ' intelligent selection' (religion). The human species evolved out of a "primordial soup" of bacteria over a billion years ago.
Then about 2000 years ago the Christian bible came out, denounced most other religious scriptures as bogus and says theirs is the only one. Lets look "outside the box" wipe away religion, live by the golden rule, " do unto others as you would want others to do unto you" , respect Nature and continue to expand our minds. Face it, the way things are going now, the human species will end up back in that "primordial soup" sooner than we expect.

When the Bible was written, the New Testament anyway, the people who wrote it were not trying to overthrow a government, or raise an army to battle anyone. They just wrote about someone they had met, and believed in. They were privileged to have witnessed many things. There is no plan for anarchy in the Bible. Who were the original writers trying to control? They did not build big buildings and ask for donations, so they could live better than those donating, like some do today.

You see "fear" in the Bible, I see freedom, hope and keys to opening doors that lead to peace

I just know. I dunno, it probably must be because I've been born with the faith, But in the Bible, in the old testament, there were stuff written down that they said would take place and well, it did! not only that, but keep in mind tat it wasn't just one person who wrote the bible..it was a compilation of many many generations, so how could the ones in the Old testament say that Some random dude is gonna come and save the world and eventually another random person in the new testament writes about it actually coming true? i don't think it was to instill fear in anyone.
One thing you must keep in mind too.. Once a person dies, he's dead. he's asleep. an immortal rest that would only be waken up when Christ actually comes back (which He will, by the way.)

To me, there is something amazing about flying a kite. The big, open field and the internal rush you get as you run with the string in your hand. You can't see the wind, but you trust that the wind will carry it as you feel the tug of the wind on your string. That's exactly how I feel about the Lord. I can't see Him, but I know that He is there because I feel that strong tug on my heart as I walk with Him, talk with Him, and obey His Word. One thing you must understand is that the God of the Bible, our Creator, is a personal God. He loves us and wants to form a relationship with each of His children. He wants to reveal Himself to you. No other god is like this, they are all impersonal, unknowing. And when the Lord reveals Himself to you, trust, love, and faith become greater than any unanswered question.

The bible wasn't written by God. It was written by men.

Not as a means of control; they were writing the basis for their beliefs.

Nobody knows what happens after a person dies. Do you truly think that death is the end of the story? I do not know if it is, but I would rather live well and be good to others.
Even if there is no afterlife.

If I am wrong, I have lost nothing. I have loved God with all my heart, soul and mind. I have also loved my neighbor as myself. I can not fathom the thought of spending eternity without my Creator, my Lord.

If you are wrong...you have lost, everything. You will spend eternity without God. You have given into the temporal (temporary).

It is a choice everyone must make. Either you accept the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ or you reject His gift of salvation.

It does not matter what my denomination or translation of the bible. God's Word will not return void (Isaiah). What matters is having a personal relationship with the living God, Jesus Christ. Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

Salvation is a gift that can not be earned.

Christians are not sure about the words of the bible, otherwise they would be united. It is precisely because the bible is a myth that there are so many interpretations of it.
