Thank you all for your participation, although I don't know why atheists would even be on the R&S site, much less answer a question about spirituality. Maybe they're claiming to be "spiritual" after all, eh?
Anyway...it's going to be difficult to choose a Best Answer!
May your year be filled with the goodness of God and be prosperous in every way (spiritually, emotionally and physically, as well as materially). It's been a blast getting to "know" many of you this year. Looking forward to more Q & A!

Hey sister
I know that as believers we are not all about setting " resolutions"... but I do believe that the beginning of each new year should be a time to consecrate my heart to the Lord in a fresh way. The Lord has asked us to take each day one at a time. We truly do not have any of our tomorrows or our next moments. But like Daniel I want to set my heart not to defile myself, to have a simple diet of ONLY Christ. To daily come to Him to be my supply and nourishment for THAT days' growth. I just want my heart to be in the rigth place sweet sister Annie. SO easily it can be given or occupied with the cares of this life and the downward trend of the world. In these last days the rise of the enemy is so swift.. so potent.. we need the Lord to have a way to be intensified in our being to have a healthy way to go on.
This year I really want to complete my reading of the whole bible. To live an abiding kind of life where there will be some remaining fruit. Apart from Him we can do nothing.
I want to keep my vessel as open to the Lord each day. Telling Him that No matter what, no matter what my outward behavior may be at times that deep in my being I just want Him. To fight for me when I am so weak. To keep me in His hand. That I'll come to Him for each days' portion of Grace to continue on in the race set before me. Its only by His grace that we can go on in a lasting way.
I know that when the Lord has my heart, HE has me. Where my treasure is there my heart will also be. Sister annie. May the Lord be our priceless treasure this year. The One of peerless worth. May we really go beyond anything of religious duty and tap into the riches of Christ in His word and in the Body of Christ.
I love your sharing and contributions here sister. This year we will discover and grow together in the Lord as we all forget the things which are behind and pursue and know this Wonderful Christ... He is our way and He is our goal:)
YOur sister

All of the above. but realistically, improve my prayer and devotion life, spend more time in The Word, (which will lead to all of the above) and get to know my family better.
With Gods help. Which is the only way to do anything. I've tried stuff on my own and gotten nowhere.
Peace and Joy to you in 2008.

Yes to all your questions!!
We need to be fervently growing and serving the Lord to show ourselves ready for his return that will happen at any moment!!
A goal I have kept now for 9 years is the read the Bible through again this year for my 10th. time!
I have included a site with reading plans. There are many MANY more if you "google" them.

My spiritual goals for 2008: 1) Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with more people than I did in 2007. 2) Have more empathy for the needs of others. 3) Commit more scripture to memory. 4) Be more submissive to the Holy Spirit's conviction of things I need to change in my life. 5) To praise Him more than I did in 2007.
Plans: I plan to spend more time with my family & friends, especially my grandchildren.
Dreams: My deepest desire is to see my 32-year-old son and his family reunited and serving God.
God bless you, and Happy New Year!!!
Your eternal friend,
Virginia (John 16:33)

I want to read and study the Bible more. I always want to do that but I never seem to be able to find the time to dig deep enough to satisfy my longings.
As soon as I study something that intrigues me...I get another thought and have to study that.
