I have Windows XP and new software tells me to close all antivirus programs before installing. I didn't and now am having problems with that software.

Just install it. Or uninstall Norton. I hate it. It totally messed up 3 computers I had. It slowed them down so much. I suggest Kaspersky 7.0. It is a best seller and rated #1 on all websites. That's what I have. Uninstall Norton!! It will make a huge difference, just wait and see. :) Hope this helps! Happy Holidays!!

I have encloutered the same. I have had McAfee for three years and the subscription is about to expire.I'm getting Mcafee emails like crazy telling me to update or risk the protection. However I switched to ADirect TV and Xfinity who gave me Norton Security Suite that has run just fine for the last six months. I want to me sure that if I let McAfee expire and only have Xfinity Norton Suite that this will be all I need to protect my computer. Thanks, kathie

Right click the icon in the tray, there should be a choice to "disable".

But take this tech's advice and get rid of Norton. There are free anti virus programs available from the net the do a better job. Here are the links to a couple.

AVG

Avast
