It seems to be the new trend, of atheists and others, to paint all religions bad because some are obviously bad, vengeful, etc. Yet I find the bible only compares two sorts of religion: impure religions and pure religion, with pure religion notably arriving undefiled and remaining unspotted, as noted in James 1:27. I also find pure wisdom, of "that God" (all light and no darkness) in "Christ" (is the end of the law) reconciling the world unto God, does not law impute sin, as noted in 2Corinthians 5:19.

So then true Christianity would be as grace us as that God in Christ, reconciling instead of alienating, unifying instead of being divisional; And false christianity would be awful lawful, due to not knowing false Christs shall arise to DECEIVE.

Yet there's the matter of a little leaven leavens the whole, and there is no respect of persons with God. So it becomes a global matter, of either all are bad or none bad, just deceived, til they learn not to get deceived by lies(laws).

It's called a Straw Man Argument and is a logical fallacy.

They choose an example (in this case, the bad Christian), and use it to discredit or invalidate all practitioners. The person or thing used as an example is known as the straw man.

However, just because a straw man argument is used to invalidate Christianity, doesn't mean that it's not a valid argument (at least, the fact that it's a logical fallacy doesn't mean the conclusions are incorrect).

Personally, I think Christianity can be potentially destructive, depending on the interpretation. As we all know that interpretation evolves, maybe in the future, Christianity won't be so bad.

You, personally, I see as a good Christian. :) I wish all Christians would see it the way you do. Then Christianity as a whole could potentially be better for the entire world. Maybe it would be the salt of the earth that it claims to be (although, it still wouldn't be the ONLY good in the world by far).

We will only further harm those who have been harmed if we try to force them to believe the same way we do. We have to love them, and pray for them, and live by example. Jesus never forced anyone to follow Him.

As a Deist, I conclude that there is a God/Intellegent Design from observation. I despise all Religion. But, I have to continue to ask myself if my present view is because of my fiery, very public and very confrontational exit from Jehovah's Witnesses.

My answer is no. I was became Deist before I left the Witnesses. It's simply a conclusion I came to after reasoning on things.

There are informed Atheists, uninformed Atheists and knee jerk Atheist...and Deists and Christians, etc.

Often people change their beliefs, not just Atheists, as a reaction to their former belief or because of the actions of members of a group. I often hear Atheists speak as though they are Atheists because if their experience with Religion. I think those Atheists and others who ran to another belief because of the actions of a church, religion whatever, need to examine their motivations.

There are intellegent articulate Atheists who have some very compelling arguements. I can't prove God exists and they can't prove he doesn't.

There are uninformed Athiests who call themselves Atheists because it absolves them of resposibility to a higher order. They have give more thought to selecting which movie they will go see tonight than they do to their professed belief.

I despise religion after lengthy examination of the Major Holy books. My conclusion is that they're all bulls**t.

By your contention you lump all Atheist together. Thats not an accurate assement. But, yes, I'm sure a lot of uninformed people of all persautions leave "Christianity" becasue of their bad experiences.

As to a good or bad church, those are theological issues based on each groups interpretaion of a Book that no ome can prove is from God. To me all such arguements are baseless, meaningless and pointless.

I would rather be around an ungodly man than an ungodly "christian".

Revelations, chpt. 3
15: I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16: So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

We as Christians are to to rebuke these hypocrites and to have no company with them.
Titus chpt.1
10: For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
11: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.
12: One of themselves, [even] a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13: This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

1Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

((((Sasi)))) Amen to what she has said!

Are not all whom believe on Jesus, in the body of Christ? i do not think that the Lord would want divisions or denominations, we should keep it simple.

False Christians (who are not Christians at all) certainly give Christianity a bad name. They can be found in all denominations (and even in no denominations) and you wisely point out the antagonistic spirit that seems to mark them. They do not have the grace of God.

There is a marked difference between the way they 'deal with' different beliefs and the way the first century Apostles did that. Paul never minced his words when exposing deceivers and Jude said Christians were to earnestly contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the Saints. And Jesus himself denounced hypocrites (especially religious ones.) But Jesus gave the parable of the enemy sowing weeds amongst the wheat. When the disciples noticed this, they wanted to pull the weeds out but Jesus said, No - wait till the harvest when the angels will be sent to gather the weeds first, and burn them. So that's why we have this admixture and why Christians must identify 'weeds' yet without trying to destroy them.

So many presumptions here.

I did fall for the cult of Joseph Smith and I did escape from it. At the time, I still believed in Christ and the Bible but eventually I applied to Christianity the same critical thinking skills that allowed me to see Mormonism for the fraud that is.

In the end, the decision was clear and easy. The Mithraic myth of Christianity is just as kooky as the polytheistic myth of Mormonism.

I've never looked back and I never will.

They do every day.

It is like bobbing around in the ocean. Everything looks the same around you. Get a little altitude and you see great variations.

Seeing all "Christian" religions around you false, leads you to believe all are false. This is what Satan desires. He has done a good job if you give up trying to find the one true religion among all his false ones.

The majority do not care if a little yeast causes the whole lump of bread to rise. They prefer the darkness of this world to the light of truth. (John 3:19-21) Religion is just a sham to them anyway, only there to impress someone, show off.

No, nothing should cause others to believe that Christianity is bad, but false christians do lead many to conclude that it is.

If a person reaches the conclusion that Christianity is bad then where do they turn for salvation?

edit:

However, the natural, unregenerate man in all people see Christianity as bad for it, the old man as opposed to the new man, so naturally, those who don't truly want to repent and seek the face of God will do everything in their power to keep Christianity, the light shining in the lives of those who believe, from revealing their deeds. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John 3:20-21. I included verse 21 because it is the good news to sinful man.

Good point. (I'm not sure it is a question). that is why I tend to not call myself a "Christian". Most all "Christians" throw out the first 2/3 of scripture, while Jews throw out the last 1/3. A true believer will follow all of the Word Of Messiah.
