I made Chilli con carne yesterday, 4 of us ate it and 2 of us were sick within 6 hours of eating and I havent been off the loo. Was it the chilli that caused it? if so, how come it only affected 2 of us. Was it food poisoning?
p.s the mince was bought from the reduced isle (we froze it on the bb date) and had been frozen then defrosted and then cooked.

Probably food poisoning. The reason only two of you may have gotten sick might be because your immune systems may not be as strong as the others.

Fast Food restaraunts are generally safe. They throw more food in the trash than you could ever believe. The problem, judging from your question, is that you have a really bad diet. You need to eat at home more often. If you will just eat food that you prepared at home you will not experience this sickness that you are getting from Fast Food. Your really cheating yourself by not eating at home on so many levels. First, there is the cost. Then, the obvious sickness your getting from eating out too much. Dude, go to the grocery store, start with the Shells and Cheese and build on that. your gonna die at 39 eating out.

High possibility of contamination, and/or immune system.

I wonder what the 2 of the people ate 12-24 hours before the chili. Which could have caused the backdoor trots. Is it possible you didn't cook the meat thoroughly, or used fresh tomatoes instead of canned, or sampled any unwashed veggies in the making of the chili ???? Could be that it isn't the chili. Many times I will cook up our meal....and my hubby gets the trots...no one else, and vice versa, so unless everyone gets ill, then it is doubtful the chili is bad. Often it is something else eaten before that meal. Not long ago...I made up Goulash all fresh ingredients....we ate....then my Hubby decided to eat an entire quart of Cold Stone Ice Cream(mixed with lots of goodies). Well, he got the backdoor trots, all day the next day and blamed it on the Goulash.....Of course, he didn't want to believe the entire quart of ice cream could have caused the trots......!!!! I ate no ice cream....and I was just fine...so was our Son....

It probably was the chili. Once cooked, was the dish served right away? It is possible that the food became contaminated after it was prepared. Bacteria can grow on one corner or side of a dish or pot, leaving the rest of the food uncontaminated. Those people that served from the contaminated side would get sick and others that were served from the other side would remain well.

chances are it was something the 2 infected people ate not all 4, as for the meat don't worry, it could also be the use of the spices used, upsetting 2 of you and not all 4,,,,

I don't think anything other than a good sh1t, plenty of water, and something stodgy ( bread or crackers ) to eat should dry you up,,,, failing that a pack of bisto powder,,, it will certainly thicken things up a bit.......

I do not think it is poisoning although chilli's and garlic and tomatoes do have sometimes a laxative effect

if it's from the meat could it be possible only some of it was bad even though all was frozen together etc. that would explain the reason for only 2 of you getting sick. other than that i have no idea lol as it's sounds like it could be food poisoning but then it would affect all of you surely

Maybe. But eating too much of it makes you ill giving you up achy stomach.

perhaps... maybe its due to the meat being frozen on the BB date and its best to get good quality meat as you dont know where it has been even though better quality meat is far more pricey...

it doesnt seem that extreme food poisoning, maybe they got it out of the system just in time

Some people have stronger constitutions and are more tolerant towards spicy food which is why not all of you got ill.
