How do I find out where someone has been buried? I just found out today that a friend of mine died in a helicopter crash and was buried in Arlington and I would like to be able to go see him. Does anyone know how to find out? Thank you in advance for your help.

The below link is the web site to locate anyone buried in any VA or State Veterans cemetery. It is searchable by cemetery name, state and name of the deceased. It will give you the exact site of internment and even a small map to the particular cemetery.

There is a website or once you arrive there are computers that show the layout of the cemetery and how to find a specific persons grave. There are also docents/employees there to help in the info building.

Be aware that depending on where he is buried you may or may not be able to visit - depending on what is going on that day. It is obviously still an active cemetery and services take precedence over visitors and be sure to follow the posted rules (most are common sense - it's a cemetery not a park).

Sorry I don't have a better answer, but the link above to www.interment.net is NOT a complete listing. I just looked up a handful of buddies and some family members who are buried there and couldn't find any of them.

the cemetery does have a database and can pinpoint the location, HOWEVER, you will NOT be able to visit the plot without prior arrangements being made.

They have a website that MAY disclose that information, but even dead a service member should be protected by the Privacy Act.

If you GO to Arlington there are people there that will tell you the exact location of your friends plot with in Arlington.

Thanks for being a great friend.

I do belive they have a website..... http://www.arlingtoncemetery.org/
there should be a directory for the names/gravsites there. Also contact information for the folks run it. I'm sure that they will be helpful.

After you arrive, there are people working there who can take you directly to the grave site.
