i asked my hair dresser this and she told me that it was a myth, it just makes your hair more healthy...

Hair grows at the same rate both day, and night, morning, and bedtime. All the hair grows at the same rate no matter if they are cut in layers or a blunt cut.

(hair on the head) Hair grows at about an average of 1/4 to 1/2 inch a month. Some people are luckier and have hair that grows just a little longer in a month.

(hair on the other body parts) Hair on legs grow at different rate then hair on your head. But even then it grows at the same rate day and night.

People with shorter hair do appear to have faster growing hair because the end do not have as many slits or breaks in them, as a person that have longer hairstayles. And shorter hairstyle need to be maitained more with more haircuts to keep that style.

People who use hair dryers and curling irons on their hair daily (or often) do get more breaks and split ends though no matter the length of their hair. The heat causes the hair to become more brittle and does damage the hair. Thats why they now have all kinds of styling aides for hair to help combat the problems caused by heat on hair.

So if you use heat to style or dry your hair you might think you hair does not grow fast, or if you have a shorter hair style you might think your hair grows faster.

With all that said there is one other thing to be said hair on the same head does not all grow at the same rate. 100 hairs in one patch of the head will not all grow longer at the same time. (It is kind of like kids of the same age not everyone grows at the same rate at the same time)

It's a myth
So no..hair grows about half to 3/4 of an inch every month whether cut trimmed or untouched.

No, it helps it look healthier but it also makes it take longer to grow. Just think about it. The hair grows from follicles in your head. Once it come out of your head it is just dead cells. Doing anything to the hair itself will not change how fast your hair grows. You need to work from the inside out. Prenatal vitamins are good for making your hair and nails grow.

But don't stress to much if your hair doesn't grow long and pretty. I had an anatomy teacher who told me that you are already determined on how long your hair will grow and look good. Once it gets to a certain length it starts thinning out if you keep letting it grow. Some people are lucky and have long thick hair. Some like me if it gets past my shoulders it gets real thin and stringy looking. I can grow it long after a long while but it doesn't look good.

But if you are not meant to have long beautiful hair you won't. You probably already know what length your hair looks best at and you will only be happy with it at that length.

TELL ME oh wise people who say "yes"..... WHY would this be so?? Hair grows from the roots under the skin. The hair does not communicate with itself, so WHAT would spur the GROWTH after cutting it??? HELLO???

NO, your hair does NOT grow faster after cutting the ends. What happens, is your hair stops breaking off of the ends from the pre - cutting damage, so it APPEARS to be "growing" faster. The healthier your hair, the better it looks.

First of all your hair grows from the roots which is at the top of your head, so to cut the ends of your hair will not do anything except to help with split ends and will not affect the growth of your hair.

While it may seem that cutting the ends makes it grow faster, it actually has no effect on the growth. All growth takes place in the follicle in your skin. Once the hair emerges from the follicle, it is dead tissue much like fingernails after they emerge from the growth tissue at the base of the fingernail. Trimming the ends will have no effect on what is going on in the follicle.

Tips
-if you can, wash hair every other day or every two days-it just depends how oily your hair gets.
-leave conditioner on for 10 minutes at least and don't put it on roots.
-drink lots of water and eat a lot of protein such as meat and peanut butter cause your hair is made from protein.
-always use a leave in conditioner for split ends.
-trim hair once a month since split ends stops hair growth.
-use heat protection every time.

This, to tell you the truth, is a myth. But cutting the ends gets rid of the split dead parts, causing it to look heathier and helping it to grow in a different way, making it LOOK longer as it grows. If you take good care of it, and cut it often, your hair will look a lot better - length wise included.

Hello,
This is a good guide with a step-by-step method to get your hair back http://hairagain.toptips.org

Male hair loss is the most common type of hair loss. It's caused by increased sensitivity to male sex hormones (androgens) in certain parts of the scalp, and is passed on from generation to generation. There are many factors that can attribute to hair recession or massive hair fall. You can try to regain your full head of healthy hair by following natural methods: they are cheaper, they have no side effect and very often more effective than conventional one.

As said above an interesting guide you can follow to get your hair back and prevent future hair loss without dangerous chemicals and drugs, and without expensive supplements or painful hair transplants is available on this site: http://hairagain.toptips.org

It depends...for me, it keeps my hair neater..I will tell you, you'll have less breakage...and that is the 'reason' some say your hair grows faster.
If your not loosing it, it naturally looks fuller. Once an end splits all the way up toe the scalp, your hair comes out..
Keep the ends trimmed...and you will notice much more fullness...

I'm not really sure...but it does make your hair look better and it's easier to comb and take care of if you cut off the ends every 1 or 2 months or more
Hope this helps
