Dunno, unfortunately I only have a Cabernet and a Chardonnay ... and I'm saving them for later .. . still, I guess I have time to pop to the shops. though I don't think I will be bothered about taste comparisons then.

A good Bordeaux will beat a good chardonnay hands down on depth of flavour, its complexities and on its levels of taste and structure.
However, even just a reasonable chardonnay can often be miles better than a poor Bordeaux... and there are plenty of them around.

Depends on the individual and the specific wine by in my case I'd probably choose the Bordeaux in a head to head nearly every time.
