my brew has been fermenting since december 25....should I take a second gravity test? it is bubbling every 6 seconds about. Should I wait until it bubbles less?

Be patient. As a rule, I don't rack the wort to the secondary until a couple of weeks have past. You can check sg then.

Don't know what you're making, but 6 days isn't much time. My first fermentation usually takes 10 - 14 days. If it's outgassing more than once a minute, I'd leave it be (I know, THAT'S the hard part)! My last batch of brown took almost 6 weeks from start making to start drinking. (2 fermentations and then bottle aging). Trust me, it's worth the wait. Good luck to you, and make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy your first bottle.

I'd wait until it's not bubbling to start checking the gravity for completion. Every time you open up your fermentor you run the risk of exposing it to contaminants so I always try to keep it to a minimum just to be safe.

On a side note always be sure to check the gravity towards the end, like you plan on doing, rather than drawing much information from airlock activity. The airlock is really only a suggestion of what's going on.
