We know a girl that is not married to a soldier but is living in military housing that is at Fort Polk and paying rent to her friend. I think this is wrong and have searched the internet looking for this is fraud. She is sleeping all over the neighborhood and there is a small child with her. As a taxpayer I am so upset. Any suggestions.

easy call the mp's and explain the situation to them. they can and should get the j.a.g. involved to get her butt thrown out where she needs to be. if she isn't military she has no business being there, kid or no kid. inform someone.

If Fort Polk is privatized there is most likely a clause in the "rental" agreement about not subletting your quarters. The soldier is responsible for said quarters though so you can't do much other than ask housing to investigate. BUT be sure of what you think is going on before you do -- she could be a family member who has authorization to stay for a long visit, etc.

For those who say you don't need an ID yes you do to use the facilites. ALso most posts are no longer open post as they were prior to 9/11 but you can get a pass with proper paperwork.

As a responsible individual, you have an obligation to report this, even if you just suspect it is happening. The post housing authorities along with the military police are your point of contact.

Think of what will happen if this person is actually sleeping around and there is fall out such as a serious crime. Would if this individual is using another person's military or government issued ID card. That could mean a breach in security. Also, a G.I. can not lease or rent out his quarters, not legally.

I understand many people do not want to be nosy or feel as if they are getting into other peoples business but you do have an obligation to report situations which could harm others, even your next door neighbor. Regardless if feelings get hurt, it is better to be safe then sorry. I look at it as a security issue and not a being nosy or violating someones private matters.

Here is a phone number to call: Phone: (337) 537-5000
That is the number to Fort Polk family housing and the number for the military police is Phone: 337-531-2227. How will you feel if something bad happens, could you live with the guilt?

This is not exactly fraud, but I'm positive it is against the rules of housing.
Contact your local housing office and inform them anonymously about the situation. That is really the only course of action you can take.

Good luck.

For all the people talking about military IDs. Not all bases require military ID to get into. This is very common on training posts where people are coming and going on a regular basis. IE: Fort Polk, Fort Irwin, Fort Gordon, Fort Jackson, Fort Bliss.

Also, there is very little the person Commander can do about this situation as the conract signed by the person in the housing was with a goverment run civilian company. If the soldier was in the barracks, the Commander could deffinetly put in his $0.02 because the Commander is signed for, and responsible for the barracks.
IG and Chapain would have little to no juristiction in this case, except maybe the Chaplain could call the MPs or Housing office for you.
The Inspector General handles complaints people have involving thier chain of commcand and NCO support channel when they feel their rights are being violated. This has nothing to do with IG.

No they cannot live in military housing unless you are disabled and he is deployed. They can stay there 14 to 30 days. If you want to move into housing and he is deployed you will need a Specific POA to move into housing. And if you were not on the housing list before moving into a place out in town, you will have to pay to move all your own things into housing. the military will not pay for that move. If you want a roommate, then stay where you are and have them pay partial rent and you can save money. ETA: While San Diego housing isn't on base it is still government housing run by Lincoln Management. You cannot have guests in that housing longer than 30 days without permission. They may allow it but it is no more secure than if you live in a regular rental apartment/house and all your BAH will be going to them. If you rent a place out in town you can pocket some of the BAH because you can find a place less than housing, especially if you are only going to be in a 2 bedroom.

The military member has signed for the house and is not allowed to rent it out or take on roommates.
Where is the Military member?
Turn it into Family Housing or use the Commanders action line. Nothing would happen to her other than losing a place to live but the person renting it to her will receive an Article 15, loss of housing, loss of basic allowance of housing(BAH)

The Military has outsourced most of the on-base housing (turned it over to a contractor). To cover their costs they have opened on-base housing to the civilian community. For Military they take the complete BAH, for civilians they charge a competitive rate.

The co-location (sub-letting), as others have mentioned contact the on-post housing office and file a complaint

Why are you posting it here? Report her to the Fort Polk housing office.

Go directly to the housing office on FT Polk and tell them the situation with address. Base housing is only for family housing and can not be sublet to anyone for rent money.
