So I see some people on here don't realize that an amp is not only to increase volume. While this is one if the main selling points for some people, others prefer the enhanced sound quality one provides over just the radio. Amps are also a necessity when adding subs to your system. Just because you have an amp(s) doesn't mean your music will be loud all the time. As I said before, some people just prefer the enhanced quality of the music as LOW VOLUMES.

ok first of all the rms is teh rated ability of a subwoofer, the max is jsut actual the failure factor, like while you're burping a sub and not enjoying it for extra then a 2d at maximum it could cope with that ability, while you're enjoying a music or song or possibly a tone tht lasts extra then a 2d, the rms ability is what the subwoofer can cope with. it somewhat is often ideal to pass with the rms ability. so now that that ahs been pronounced. you will proabbaly desire an amp with an RMS wattage around1200-1500 watts. this might insure that the subs gets large sparkling ability. ( distortion kills drivers plenty quicker than wattage) in the experience that your audio device have twin 4 ohm voice coils, then you certainly cna twine 2 subs right down to a million ohm, which potential all you desire is an amp solid at 1200-1500 watts RMS at a million ohm in the experience that your audio device have a single 4 ohm voice coil they'd basically be under pressure out right down to 2 ohms, which potential you may desire to discover an amp that places out 1200-1500 watts RMS at 2 ohms for the checklist max wattages almsot by no potential remember in motor vehicle audio. consistently pass by potential of the rms

You don't know what you are missing. This is the first thought that comes to mind.
In this case, it is better that you don't know, you'll save a ton of money. There are significant differences in sound quality between a basic factory car stereo and a premium sound quality stereo.
It all depends what you use your car stereo for. If you only listen to the radio am or fm. There isn't a real need to upgrade your stereo. Why pay more if you aren't going to use or appreciate it.
However, a premium quality car stereo gives you more than just louder volume. Premium car stereo systems gives you a cleaner, more concise, deeper, and richer sound.
But it will cost you at least a $1000 for a good quality sound system. It doesn't have to be loud.
A good setup will include:
- cd player with 2 preouts
- 2 amps
- front component speakers
- subwoofer
But its not for everyone. And a lot of people that have aftermarket stereo systems are not interested in having it loud but are wanting high qaulity sound.

An amp will help you loosen the nuts and bolts that hold your car together.

I think there's only two reasons to get an amp. 1) to destroy your hearing and 2) to destroy the hearing of others.
How about exchanging it?

Install better speakers that can handle more power or if u r relatively happy with the sound of your stock system use the amp to add a single 8" subwoofer for better bass.

In my opinion car radios have sufficient volume as fitted. To increase volume by fitting an amp will cause un-necessary and permanent damage to your eardrums. All those idiots who drive around with high volumes blaring inside will pay in their 40's when they start to go deaf.Don't follow their poor example.

HA! So you can pull up to stop lights and annoy the crap out of the people in the car next to you, that is the only thing I think they are good for.
