this is a customary humorous tale the place I stay...Northeast Pa., united states of america...a great tourist hotel section with many community & traveling hunters. And in spite of the reality that we now and lower back wish this may well be a truism...they butter the bread around those areas.

I asked this question a few years ago when our local Game Warden walked into a local restaurant during tourist season a few years ago. He said "shhhhh" I've only got a few licenses left and was saving them for you guys. He then sat down and proceeded to give us all the "rules" along with calibers allowed and shooting hours etc. Needless to say a bunch of folks headed for the door and then to their RVs. The owner of this fine establishment just about peed himself from laughing so hard. Of course he's a local and hates the out of townees as much as us. That said if it wasn't for the tourist coming to look at Mount Rushmore / Crazy Horse and the rest of the Black Hills, I would have to start writing tickets to the locals. It's sooo much more satisfying to write cites to the tourist who you know will just send in their fines so I don't have to go to court.

We make fun of tourists here in Alaska too and I have heard that about a trillion times.
Right now it’s -20 below outside and guess what? No tourists! Come June they will be back by the millions. I really don’t look forward to the bumper to bumper R/V’ers, the stupid questions; like the tourist on a boat asking if we are at sea level.
But despite all the problems associated with tourists; I like most of them. They come from all parts of earth to Alaska and each one has something I learn from them about their part of planet earth.
Here are some questions they have asked me;
Its that a real gun in your holster?
Is that a real gun in your gun rack?
Is that gun loaded? “Fishing with 9 brown bears next to us”
Can you pet the bears?
Can you pet the moose?
Do you live in an igloo?
Is it true the natives let you sleep with their wife?
How do I stop the eagles from pooping on my R/V?
When the snow gets 17 feet deep how do you drive your truck through it?
Why don’t I see people on their snow machines in the summer?
Do people here really wrestle bears?
Do you take American money here? “Asked by a Californian”
Where can I go to see all the animals you have in 1 hour?
I left my dog chained to a tree and all I could find was a bloody collar, do you think he’s ok?
Why would an eagle fly away with my cat?
Why can’t we have a Bar-B-Q next to all those bears?
How many Orcas have you caught?
Are sea lions mean?
Are class 4 rapids safe to swim in?
Can some one stop those bears from fighting?!?
What do you mean the only way there is by float plane? I didn’t know planes could float.

But I am glad they come here and see the last of America’s great frontier. Their money helps our economy and most are nice people.

But then I am enjoying the peace and quit of winter now with out them. We do have winter tourists, just not many.
