2008 Chevy Aveo - New
2007 Ford Focus ZX3 - 7,000 miles
2007 Kia Rio - 12,000 miles

I haven't heard a lot of good info on the Aveo. We are looking to purchase a smaller vehicle b/c we have street parking in the city. We're looking for 10-13k in price and all three of these fit the description. Should I go w/ one of these cars, or should we keep looking elsewhere?

FORD FOCUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Toyotas are pieces of crap. Very low quality, generic, unreliable, and driving a toyota is driving a lawn mower. The focus has the best MPG of any ford and are great quality and will last decades. king_davis13 is wrong the Ford Focus is based off of the Mazda3. Ford owns part of Mazda. My 2001 focus gets around 37 MPG and has been crashed twice and still works perfectly. It drives flawlessly and has plenty room. Also check out the Mercury Sable! Affordable, very luxurious, lots of room, good MPG. Both of these cars are within $10,000.

I don't know where you got your figure of $2,500. It's a 10 year old high mileage vehicle in fair shape at best. It's worth is between $800 and $1,000. The alternator and strut don't add value, those are just part of maintenance. I'd offer $700 to start, and would walk away at $800.

Oh God please get none of those. If you must go entry level(bleh) get a used Civic or Mazda 3 and call it a day.

Oh and to correct someone, the Aveo is based on DAEWOO not TOYOTA. So don't get that.

The Aveo is crap and the Ford is worse. The Kia is O.K. But my pick is the Toyota Yaris.Sedan or three door hatchback.Prices start at $11,000 and go up over $16,000 with options.

Aveo is not a Kia
It's not a Toyota
The Chevy Aveo is a DAEWOO.
And I've actually read that they are about as good as you can get for that money.
I wouldn't specifically say that any of these cars aren't good. I would personally go with the Ford.

Hands down Aveo. These cars are based of of the Toyota Platform. They are very dependable and economic. With proper care you will be able to run that car for 300,000 miles easy. I sell car parts for a living and believe me you want nothing to do with the other two. P.S. Not may people realize that GM and Toyota are connected but they are. All you have to do to see it look at a pair manual for a GEO storm and the Toyota Celica are the same book. Toyota quality for under 12K Sweet. Hopefully I have been helpful.

All the cars listed have about the same value. The things that you need to look at are warranties, expected life and where did the used cars come from. The Kia with 12K miles was probably a trade from someone who wanted more, while the Ford was more than likely a rental or program car.

Kia is made in Korea and has come a long way in quality, I bought my son a 96 after 90K miles it was done. Fuel pump, struts, CVU joints and alternator. I gave the car away 2 years ago. Not bad for the price. However it was no joy to drive.

I have always had bad luck with Fords. And for maintenance I would take it back to a Ford and Lincoln dealership. Much better service. Buying a used entry level car that was abused as a rental or program might not be the best way to go.

The Chevy has the full warranty, you will know the entire history of the car. It is still entry level car built to get you in a new car for less money. Don't plan on it lasting more than 10 years. or 100k miles.

With all this in mind I would get the new car. And I like most Chevy's
Hope this helps

I'd even go with the focus or keep looking, I'm not sure of the Aveo, and kia's who knows if they are reliable or not personally I like my American car over a foreign car.
