In my country we do and frankly I'm sick of it. This month I spent so much money buying Eid gifts for my family, then Christmas gifts for my Christian friends and now New Year gifts for just about everyone.
This is the last year I'm participating in this nonsense.

Thanks LOTR. It's not really about generosity, it's simply that I can't afford it anymore and I don't know how to politely tell that to people.

If you feel generous theres no problem but it seems a little rare.
By the way, really like your avater image.
if i were to be in such a scenario i would just leave it then, although it sounds a little harsh, not a lot of people put effort into it anyway, maybe something that does not require expense can be considered, its the thought that counts in the end.

i might propose: jewelry-some thing cool and cool, jewelry or necklace or the two makeup (although i do no longer understand if 12 year olds placed on makeup), you may desire to get a sort of vast present field issues that has a set of distinctive colorings of eyeshadow & lip gloss. while you're unsure with regard to the makeup element, i think of in addition they have present packing packing containers that have all distinctive forms of nail polish in it, that would desire to be exciting for a 12 year old. A wonderful, matching set of hat, gloves & headscarf. a fancy magazine and a series of cool, colored pens. you may desire to continually circulate with a modern-day certificates while you're unsure. you will desire to purchase the mall present certificates that are stable at any shop, or you may desire to purchase one from a song shop, that way they might get a CD or DVD or some thing.

Do you work for FTD?
I swear those folks never miss a trick!
In light of the cost of Christmas gifts, New Year gifts are a bit too much for one month.
My son was born in December, so I feel your pain.
