Depends on how big it is. If it's just new and small, clean the area with antiseptic, and your hands and rip that puppy off. I've done that a few times, and it's no big deal. Although, it could bleed a bit, so have some clean gauze or a bandage ready.
If it's established and larger, go to the doc and have them do the deed.

Yes they are right. See a doctor. Only a specialist doctor can scrape that out. It may have infection if you do it at home with only somebody.

see your doctor , ..I cut one off at home just with a pair of scissors , the next morning my sheets was filled with blood , so I'll never do it by myself anymore
