Its a red contact lens that interferes with some colour vision tests so that you appear to pass. It doesn't actually allow you to see normal colours. It would be very unsafe to fly at night with a colour defect or when wearing the special lens.

Whether you pass the test will depend on which test is used. And the tester will likely notice you have the lens because it makes your eye a weird colour. You will likely be asked to remove the lens during testing.

Some licensing bodies allow those with colour defects to do a "real task" test that involves indentifying the colour of dim lights at a distance similar to the lights you need to see when landing a plane at night. If you pass, you can get your license.

it depends on what kind of colour vision defiency the person is sufferring from. a coloured filter may help to a certain extent but very limited. in fact, it might just make it worse!
colour vision problems is due to abnormal receptors or missing receptors in the eye's retina. certainly a coloured lens would not help replace the receptors

it depends on the serverity of the color blindness. my father can see black white and grey, and nothing else. these lenses would have no effect on the reseptors in his brain, therefore they would be pointless. but for those who only mistaken orange for red lets say, it strengthens the receptors making it easier to distinguish the correct colors.
