Like you, I am from a Christian Bible belt. I visit this forum to read the questions plus answers. If I have something to add... will answer. It is fascinating to me to hear the opinions of so many people with various religious backgrounds. Am also interested in the view points of the Atheist members.

I have actually learned interesting things here. Have also read some Q&A's that totally shocked me and made my hair stand on end! :O

Wishing all a very happy New Year!

I want to tell people that there is a logical middle road called DEISM. The more I see, the more I want to tell people.
God gave us reason, not religion.

We do not beleive in revealed religions, we dont think Jesus was the son of god - although he was probably a good human and a good rabbi (teacher) - and we dont beleive in the ressurrection, because it is HUMANLY impossible.

Most of the founding fathers in America were Deists, NOT christians. Read Thomas Paine, George Washington, Benjamin Franklin. You can find their writings on the website below.

i come here because it really gives me hope.people talk about how christians are self-righteous hypocrites.and i've found that quite a lot in my experience.but there are also some really, really good,kind-hearted christians,as well.and i've found a lot of them on here.they dont judge, preach at people,or hurt people through condemnatory statements.they really expose the hypocrites for who they are, just simply by being loving, kind, and non-judgmental.the hypocrites really should be ashamed of themselves.someone had the audacity to say that god dont love everyone.what kind of a christian is that?telling people that god dont love them? that makes it sound like jesus picks favorites.the truly loving christians try to deliver the message that god loves everyone.he created everyone and everything.its the true christians, some of the most wonderful people i've found on here, that present jesus in a loving way.
god bless those dear people.theres so much hurt and pain caused to innocent people,on behalf of the so-called''christians''who tear down everybody every chance they get.condemning people to hell, making them feel completely worthless.what is wrong with those people?when are they ever going to get the hint, that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH?people have enough problems to deal with.they dont need the ''wolves in sheep's clothing christians''adding to their stress.thank god there's really nice christians on here who are more gentle-hearted.we could all learn from them, how a ''true''christian should act.

i also like to see what other people believe.how they think about things.there are a lot of really, really good people on here, that might have different beliefs.and a lot of them, act more christian than the hypocrites do.it touches my heart,to see the love and kindness people show to others.instead of hurting them through threats of condemnation and punishment.

It's additive; it's amusing. I certainly don't meet people like this in my normal social circles of Sunday School, choir practice, home visitation and outreach, and homeschooling.

I've surprised myself and learned a few things. Did you know that there is a flying serpent mentioned in Isaiah 30:6?

What percentage of questions here do you think are sincere?

I came here out of curiosity - was wondering whether there were any new religious cults that I hadn't heard of.

I was surprised to find that there were a number of fellow atheists here, and I found some of their stories interesting and in someways similar to my own.

One of my concerns is the born-again, "apocalypse now" type 'christians' (many from your neck of the woods) who actually think that global warming is something to be celebrated and encouraged because it is a sign that jesus is going to be 'born again'. It scares the hell out of me that the president of the most powerful and influential country in the world listens and acts on the advice of those religious leaders who want to bring on the apocalypse. So much for seperating church and state!

They are not Bible-thumping until they're on here because on here they can choose which answers to debate.

When you bring up such a difficult topic as religion, beliefs are summoned. When beliefs are summoned, real believers will stand up to all doubts and attacks.

Many atheists come on here because they want to confront believers about how "stupid" their faith is. They enjoy putting the element of science into the equation. Christians sometimes cannot respond to these attacks NOT because God is in fact not real... but because He is and they have never questioned that enough to think of a defensive argument.
